Every year, on @holocaust.remembrance.day I am beyond pained, I am angered, that the non Jews worked for the #Resistance, in the case of my aunt #AlbertineLissatHubert and her husband, my uncle #MarcelHubert, were spiriting jewish kids to Switzerland thru an underground rail. She was arrested and sent to #Ravensbruck and later transferred to #LublinPoland, where she would die. My uncle Marcel would survive his incarceration. Comparing pictures we see of camp prisoners to the letters my aunt wrote the family asking they send clothes, toiletries, sweets, cigarettes, shoes, etc, & the weight limits being substantial, well over 50-100 lbs, I opine the camp guards kept everything for themselves. Later would come a letter from someone saying they would act as intermediary as the camps were requiring all communication be only in German. This individual stated he would do the translations. That is the last correspondence. I often wonder, when survivors recall their escapes in Europe, how many were facilitated by my aunt & uncle & their network, who decades later are only recognized because I post about it, getting a few likes. I have been told outright they have no place in any #HolocaustMuseums because they were not jewish. When you say this, be careful, because when you say #NeverAgain, it may make an outsider think twice about helping in the future. #itWasntJustAboutYou (at LUBLIN Polska) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZU1zSzupiR/?utm_medium=tumblr
