ok can we talk about luchenko in the queen's gambit? i firmly believe that his match with beth was the best game in the show (yes, not the last one with borgov) im probably being dramatic but i nearly cried tears of joy when beth defeats him bc he accepted the loss with such grace and he's just so nice to her?? he tells beth that she's the strongest he's ever played and beth is just having a fangirl moment w one of her chess idols, like it's so heartwarming to see the two interact even if it's only for a brief scene.
Luchenko tells Beth that she's the best player he's played in his life and Borgov looks over at him with pain in his eyes and whispers 'Am I A Joke To You?'

Summary: “Make her yours,” his wife said. “Make her yours by any means necessary, and your loss now won’t be such a loss after all. Imagine what a political coup it would be to have Elizabeth Harmon on our side. And judging by the way she looks at you it won’t be difficult. We all have to make sacrifices for the greater good, but I don’t think it will inconvenience us all that much.”
But Vasily Borgov is already inconvenienced, and she had never truly understood how deep the well of obsession ran in her husband.
