North & South | Lucian & Margery | Flashback
Lady Mortain had grieved for years, but now it was time to cast aside her mourning gowns and find herself a new husband. A powerful husband. Her dedication to her dead husband had only been for show, of course. She had opted to mourn for him longer than what was required of a wife, but that was only to show the Southerns that their dear departed lord was never far from her own thoughts.
Lord Moran was set to arrive any day now. There had once been talks between her late husband and Lord Moran in making an alignance between the two families with his niece Alia and one of her stepsons, but all of her stepsons were now cold in the grave, aside from Loys who was happily engaged to a Beaumont and while Margery would have then wanted Britta for Rowlin, it seemed the west made their moves before she could. Still, she was widowed and so was he.
There may yet be a union between House Mortain and House Moran.
Spying the red and gray banners of House Moran from her window, Margery quickly gathered together a few notables to welcome them. She purposefully left her son undisturbed.
“Ah, Lord Moran,” She said, sinking into a low curtsey, “Come you and your men must be weary from such a journey.” She said, leading them into the great hall. She fell into step with Lucian, dark eyes taking him in. He had aged well, she noted. And while he appeared strong (both of mind and body unfortunately) Margery was certain that she had enough charms left to sway him when she wanted to.
“You will forgive my son for not being able to welcome you. He is kept very busy, at present.”
