All the current info I have accumulated on Lu’s unique magic
(click for better quality)
-Lit Path- is a representation of Lu’s wish to be guided through dark times by their father. So their magic manifested to ‘light their own path’ and at the same time be able to ‘light the path for others’ (I will be making artwork on this later)
General information
everything they make emits light
the light can be brighter or duller to fit their liking
little particles of light will break off from the main object
Pre-Overblot:
pretty weak
only able to make small objects
or small balls of light
any of the ‘animals’ that they make (like butterflies/dragonflies) can’t wander too far from them
can’t use it for too long
any object can be broken easily
eyes will have a soft yellow shine to them
Post-Overblot:
is able to use magic for more extended periods of time
balls of light can be handed off to other people temporarily
is now able to make larger objects such as swords or shields
Alright lets start with the left handed thing and then talk about the eyes because that probably caught you off guard.
A PERMANENT (PARTIAL) OVERBLOT
When Lucia was younger, she actually had no reason the cover her left side.
That was until the incident.
When she was about 11 years old, she was exploring the forest behind her house.
At the time she was already practicing various sword fighting skills and had actually brought a small dagger to mess with.
There was no problem with that, the problem what when she wandered too far from home and encountered a beast (specifically, a very large crow with a glass head filled with ink).
For a while she was able to outmaneuver the it, and was actually quite close to home, until it pounced on her.
She instinctively stabbed the glass head with her dagger, but that caused the ink in it to leak out and actually burn and seep into her skin at the same time.
Before the beast could retaliate, her father came and started to attack it. He had heard her bloodcurdling scream and had come running to see what was wrong.
Unfortunately the beast managed to make way and run.
This ended in her having burn marks that are an inky color.
And because of the ink, she is in a permanent state of almost overblot, causing her to have to be extremely careful of how much magic she uses.
Not only that, but her unique magic is now being blocked from its full potential.
Her father began to throw himself into researching a way, any way, to try and maybe get the ink out of her body.
In the end, this caused him to see Lucia less and less, which lead her to believe that he didn’t like his daughter with burns that were unsightly.
Leading to repressed feelings, and a sense of insecurity behind the burns.
After the whole incident, the other thing that changed was her eye color.
Originally her eyes were a bright yellow that glowed, except now they were a dull gray that seemed empty.
The reason for this is because magic courses throughout the body.
Because of the ink, it imitates an overblot.
With the overbolts we have seen Riddle’s eyes change from blue to red, Leona’s don’t change, and I would like to think that Azul’s changed from blue to grey.
So the eye color change was more or less to signify that a change has happened to the magic circuits in the body.
Remember, these are concepts, they are not the final product and are subject to change on my terms.
(under the cut because there is mention of blood)
Lu is very much going to overblot, there’s no question about it in my mind. Especially with ink already in her body and having to hear Crowley talk about how gracious he is, and seeing how he abandons his students a lot of the time. I have a bit of a scenario planned out that once again there’s a problem and Crowley is about to leave and let the students to solve, but then to everyone's surprise Lu just speaks up and says, “No wonder you’re such a bad father,” and everyone is just surprised to see Lu talk to the headmaster that way. And at the same time everyone is wondering when Crowley became a father. Then the situation escalates to yelling, Lu revealing themselves to be Lu Crowley, and the then overblot happens. It's going to be really dramatic that's all. The crow skull, and cape are there to sort of imitate Crowley's outfit in a mocking manner, and I’m probably going to push that further in the final design. There’s also blood dripping out of the burns mixing with the ink because I want it to seem like there is very much ink in their body now wanting to get out in whatever means possible. And maybe the more they stay overblotted, the more blood and ink start to run down their arm.
