Hey! So I’ve been looking to start watching Lucifer, so I was wondering what the show is about. Love your art! Keep up the awesome work.
In its entirety, Lucifer is a redemption story. It’s very adult (no sex scenes necessarily but there is plenty of nudity and implied situations) so if you’re going to watch it, you’ve been warned.
——
It’s set in Los Angeles, California. The Devil takes a vacation from Hell with his demon bodyguard and previous torture specialist, Mazikeen “Maze”. They run a nightclub called “LUX” where Lucifer can offer people favors at request, play the piano, smoke, drink, do drugs, and have playful, often sexual, interactions with mortals. He never lies and also has the ability to reveal anyone’s deep desire. Sometimes it’s naughty, sometimes it’s very innocent.
He gets mixed up with Detective Chloe Decker when he witnesses a young female singer, who he helped jump start her career, is killed in a drive by and finds her working the case. It doesn’t take him long to realize that Chloe and him are similar as they both are “punishers”, making bad people face justice. He finds that he enjoys helping her and convinced her boss to make him a consultant of the LAPD. From there, he works alongside Chloe Decker, her ex husband Daniel Espinoza, and the forensic sunshine Ella Lopez, to find the bad guys, bring them in, and clear up some misconceptions people have about him.

[It’s worth noting that this show is very well written and juggles heavy moments and comedy seamlessly. Lucifer also goes to therapy religiously and does what he can to work through being cast down from heaven, his rage at being wrongly forced into “the bad guy” role to all of humanity (that’s explained more in the show), and coming to some type of “terms” with his feelings towards his parents (yes, God’s wife “Goddess” is in the show), his many siblings (all of whom are of different nationalities, implying that “gods children”, us, are made in his own children’s’ image, which is a nice touch), and Chloe.
Also just an FYI, season 3 is rather weak and all over the place, because FOX cancelled them that season and I believe that affected the writing. Be kind with it and push through because Netflix’s seasons are amazing.]
