Sadly, this is the only dessert on the menu. A kulfi (traditional milk based ice cream) with saffron, almond and cardamom. You're better off giving it a miss.

Taar gosht (slow cooked lamb leg curry with over 30 spices apparently), moong daal makhani and gilafi kulcha bread.

Gosht pasanda - Thin, flattened slices of lamb leg, marinated and cooked over charcoal. Deliciously spiced and perfectly tender.

Aloo tikki channa chaat - potato patties on a bed of chatpata black chickpeas, with an apricot and grape chutney.

Gosht barra chops. Always a fan of lamb chops and these were delicious!

Dinner at casual Indian restaurant, Lucknow 49 on Maddox Street near Oxford Circus. Lucknow 49 opened only a couple of weeks ago and is from Dum Biryani House founder Dhruv Mittal. The interior is pretty cosy, with colourful cushions and patterned wallpaper, that give the feel and comfort of an Indian home. Chicken and lamb dishes are halal. Here are the only two mocktails on the menu: Dalchini (my favourite), made from assam tea, pear and cinnamon puree, and Gulkand, made from Darjeeling tea, elderflower cordial and raspberries.
