4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?

I don’t think I have a specific word particularly besides like. Love? I guess? but I have a poem from Yehuda Halevi that sticks with me when I write about Solid Snake especially.

7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

Genuinely just how self indulgent it is and how it’s like. Mentally stimulating I guess? It makes my brain go brrrrrrr.

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

Ok I can’t tell you guys everything but a lot of the detail in this are based on my headcanons about stuff that happened during the lost years and how certain characters are.

some details that probably won’t make it in a detailed way into the fic that i can share:

-Snake is pretransition when he joins FOXHOUND but Miller and especially Frank support him and help him transition. It’s always nice to have two men who would genuinely gut someone head to tail for disrespecting your gender on your side.

-Snake knew Kaz before FOXHOUND and Kaz acted as a foster parent to him when he was between homes so they had a really close familial relationship and Snake viewed him as a father figure. Kaz never mentioned the connection between himself and Snake’s origins but Snake knew that he knew more than he let on since he was the only constant in his life. Kaz helped him get into FOXHOUND as well. I love Kaz if you couldn’t tell. Someday I’ll probably write something about him too.

- this fic is not following portable ops canon so frank was never experimented on before foxhound but he still was a child soldier who was tortured and has tons of problems. I’m really heavily considering making a snakefox prequel fic after I finish this tbh. leading u in hooking u and making u read my niche ship fic as well 🤭They met when Snake was 21 fresh from the green berets and Frank immediately recognized that he was trans bc he is also trans and took him under his wing lol

-this fic is about grief and processing trauma obviously but its gonna become clear that Snake is like. not over and never rly processed what happened in zanzibarland on top of also not processing what happened at shadow moses island so its. gonna be a lot

22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?

I use google docs! I usually have one doc as the fic and the outline + notes in a second doc. I also write snippets in my notes app on my phone 😅 overall I’d say I’m fairly organized but I’m also a mess so I go on tangents all the time when I’m actually writing it. I also draw a lot! I’m an illustrator by trade so it helps me to draw out what characters look like, scenes, etc.

35. What’s your favorite writing rule to smash into smithereens?

One to two word sentences and also sentences that start with But or Because. Love a good sentence that starts with But. Also I’m so bad about run on sentences tbh. Bad at correct punctuation too english classes at art school aren’t exactly good.

8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?

As much as I enjoy writing dialogue I think that I would choose action because that’s what moves a story forward and you can put the most nuance in it. I think I would get stuck if I had to write a story only through dialogue. Although if we’re talking about it in a looser sense like letters, diaries and digital correspondence counting as dialogue that could be very fun.

10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?

I suppose I have multiple answers to this question because it means multiple things to me. “Haunt” in the way of every waking moment I’m consumed by ideas and things that could happen in the thing I’m writing? Absolutely I’m haunted by my own writing in that sense.

But in the sense of a piece of writing haunting me by sticking with me? There are many things, song lyrics, poems, stories, lines from movies and tv, you name it I think about it. I think one that’s on my mind right now is the lyrics to “I bet on losing dogs” by Mitski.

24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?

I would call my approach to storytelling the ‘Medicated ADHD Approach’ aka its organized but also very chaotic and I tend to get new ideas that overwrite my original plans. I keep an outline alongside the main work and also use notes app a lot to write down ideas that come to me on the fly. My outlines are bulleted, sorted into acts/arcs, and usually not fully linear. I choose certain things to reorder, add or omit as I see fit as I’m writing but I do write a full outline before I start the actual draft. If I didn’t the story would never end because I love tangents. I enjoy writing outlines but I like brainstorming, drawing things out and actually writing the story much more.

I also write snippets of things that don’t belong to a specific idea in my notes app so I can potentially repurpose them later.

Here’s a little example its bbkaz haha:

Snake’s eye is shining with excitement, glee, as if Kaz is nothing more than a toy for him to play with, to press buttons on until he breaks. To toss aside once he’s sick of him. As much as it hurts to know that, Kaz can’t help but appease him, even though his own feelings for Snake burn hot inside, eating through his insides until there’s nothing left.

The Boss is not someone who loves, so to be his prized and trusted possession is the next best thing.

im only 2 chapters into lucky no 7 but wow. oh my god. its so generic to say “you get it” but i almost felt silly about headcanons like otacon but not snake taking coffee black or july 16th birthday or only snavid being transmasc and seeing those specific things made me go “!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

esp trans snavid its so real i love how u depict him :) ur writing of intimacy is really soft and grounded, it feels real rather than like, optimized fiction if that makes sense. like those are just guys it’s awesome i love it
