By now we have all heard the new announcement of Nicole Kidman in negotiations to play Lucille Ball in an Aaron Sorkin biopic tentatively titled 'Being The Ricardos'. 'The film is set during one production week of I Love Lucy — Monday table read through Friday audience filming— when Lucy and Desi face a crisis that could end their careers...' The crisis referred to here can only mean one thing: the accusation that Lucille Ball was a communist during the fall of 1953 and the subsequent House Un-American Activities Committee investigation. The 'I Love Lucy' episode being filmed during this very stressful week was "The Girls Go Into Business", when Lucy and Ethel buy a dress shop. When introducing his wife to the studio audience at the taping of this episode, Desi said, "And now I want to introduce you to my wife—my favorite redhead—in fact, that's the only thing red about her and even that's not legitimate—Lucille Ball!" Suzanne is one of only 3 women that I am aware of that have approval from the family and estate of Lucille Ball to portray her. ‘Suzanne first played Lucy Ricardo on special assignment to Universal Studios. She quickly came to the attention of Lucie and Desi Arnaz, Jr. who authorized Suzanne to portray their mother's work in other venues.
