The Bright Queen is such an interesting contrast to Ludinus, because by his worldview, she should be on his side. 

She was also alive during the Calamity. She also lived with the immediate post-war devastation of the fighting (we don’t know where Ludinus lived for sure, but she’s arguably even more familiar with it. It’s called the Wastes of Xhorhas for a reason). She doesn’t worship any of the gods; indeed, Lolth personally hates her! She has plenty of reasons to hate the gods, or at least not care if they die.

But critically, she knows that Ludinus is a huge dickhead, and knows he is her enemy.

ludinus’ sob story isn’t even a sob story. gods I hate him. he had one (1) bad day and made it everyone else’s problem for an entire millennia. this man really said “I lost my mother and father to a war larger than any of us so now I will ensure everyone loses their mother and father and son and daughter and sister and brother to a war larger than any of us.” why won’t men ever fucking Go To Therapy

Honestly, I don’t think it’d be too bad for him. Ludinus would get to yap all he wants and baby torog would be the only person in the world who’d actually sit and listen, because ludinus’ monologues count as a form of torture under the Geneva convention and torog is into that.

If the Hells really want to stop Ludinus, they should just try unionising the workers against him

i need to know so much more about Ludinus now. All we know is he said he was a child when Aeor fell; was he on it as it hurtled through the sky? Did he see the streets he grew up on crumble under him as everyone around him was rent asunder? Was he teleported away by a parent in the first moments? Or did he see it fall from the ground, watching any hopes and dreams of walking that great city fall with it? Did he once have faith in the gods? Or did he always harbor his animosity? Did he grieve, and does he still? How does he still have such conviction after all this time, what drives him?

I see a lot of folks saying downfall changes nothing, and Ludinus's arguments are pointless. But I think one of the most compelling things we could see next, as the Bell Hells come out of their vision, is Ludinus weeping quietly before them.
