Day 14/15-Heroic?-drama-V̴i̷l̴lain no I mea̴n̷ ̴̩͝R̴͉͝ọ̶̄m̵̨͂ă̶̧n̸̯̈́t̷̢̾i̶̢̒c̷͙̅-

..."He choked back bile, desperate for the hold she had on him despite her malice, for it was all that kept him suspended above the pit. His legs kicked without purpose against the tumbling pebbles that cascaded past them.

“Please,” he gasped, clutching at her with his other hand, nails digging into her dirt speckled arm, “Please!” he had no other words, no explanations, no bargains, just a desperate plea. Her faux eyes burned, pinpricks of light still flickering in their center. All at once every nick and scrape etched into his skin burned, as if the blood itself was about to boil- but it stopped as the light vanished. Beetle black eyes disappeared back into folds of skin. The Ire's face remained twisted, but it was from effort now, rather than loathing. 

“One reason,” she spat, “Just give me one godsdamned reason-”

They weren't exactly...friendly when they first met.

Day 29: Swap! Thought it would be fun to swap backstories, Jeyh now the sheltered child from a good family and Lu the lonely vagabond- then realized that fit perfectly with my ideas of what their lives would have looked like if their biggest traumas had been handled differently. fake OC lore, BLAST

For Jeyh, her divergence happens if after the death of her mother, instead of running from the loss, she sought solace in her remaining parents. She would have grown up with Mikel and Cathalda, the daughter of a town’s beloved set of the doctors. She’d still be wild, still have her wanderers heart, but it would be less…dangerous. She’d probably become a performer, using her earnings to travel the world. But that also means no Phillos. She wouldn’t have beccome the person who went town to town, bar to bar searching for any small scrap of intimacy she could find- even if it was just for a night.

For Ludri, if his uncle and cousin had NOT run off that fateful night and ""died in a tragic accident"", Ludri’s world and sense of safety would not have been so thoroughly shattered. Would they have still left? Of course, but it would have been somewhat aboveboard, and they would have taken him with. Their intention was to start a family business after all. No longer growing up beaten down under his father’s thumb, Ludri would certainly have more confidence. He’d still have his gentle nature, but it would be tarnished by the underhanded dealings of this uncle’s business……

Notes on the design changes: Well of course Jeyh keeps her snarly smile, it’s her best feature lol She DOES however loose the facial fur. Fun fact! Most Ire loose 90% of the fluff they’re born with between the ages of 8-10 if their development is normal. So, to other Ire, Jeyh essentially has ‘I EXPERIENCED SOME FORM OF EXTREME CHILDHOOD TRAUMA’ literally growing on her face. In this AU she didn’t go thru The Horrors at 7yo.

Like I said, if Lu had not been subject to his father’s cruelty from ages 12ish-to present he would be a lot more confident in himself and it would be a jumpstart for him realizing his sexuality and gender expression. He’s still experienced The Horrors but at like, a slow steady drip rather than all at once like in his actual canon, so he’s built up some resistance.

All in all, would they still find each other? Oh absolutely. Do I think it would go worse than in canon? I genuinely don’t think that’s possible.

Day 10: Symbolism/Themes

Lu is a very anxious, self deprecating young man who at the start of his story has found great (its fine, its fine, its fine) solace in religion. He's the sort of person who would, and has, sacrificed his own chances at happiness for the sake of others.
