the  hatter  ignored  the  sun  peaking  through  the  curtains  until  he  couldn’t  take  it  anymore.  he  covered  his  eyes  with  a  groan,  then  after  a  few  seconds,  lowered  his  arm  and  kissed  the  top  of  his  beautiful  girl’s  head,  a  warning  that  it  was  time  to  get  up.  he  didn’t  want  to  get  out  of  bed.  their  bed.  in  their  house.  in  rose  city.  it  felt  like  a  dream  waking  up  there  for  the  first  time.  if  it  was  a  dream,  he  never  wanted  to  wake  up.  “morning,”  he  groaned,  shifting  underneath  her  ( more  of  her  body  was  on  top  of  his  than  wasn’t,  legs  tangled  together  under  threadbare  sheets. )  fingers  ghosted  up  and  down  the  length  of  her  spine  before  he  tried  again.  “how’s  it  feel?”
