Travelling so far from Wallachia had yielded experiences of the like they’d never known before, filled with peril and adventure, but in the wake of Dracula’s defeat did questions carry them this far east. From the waters of the Black Sea to traveling through myriad countries on horseback and and reducing the durations of journeys through magical means yielded passage that took only four months instead of years, something unthinkable if merely traveling on foot. Dense umbrage filtered through cascading mists and dappled sunlight to the worn dust roads below, a sweet kind of ache proliferating Sypha’s ankles from having walked so far with their steed clopping tiredly alongside them.
Yet, it was through a twisting menagerie of trees and topiary that obfuscated the campus of pagodas perched on a sloping incline, Sypha knowing that this was the place. Showing a writ of passage to a page, the boy quickly sprinted up the stairs while a stable hand took their horse, following the child into the pavilion where students bent over their manuscripts studied thoughtfully until they took notice of the blond, gossiping at such a strange-looking foreigner amid them.
Regardless, the wizard didn’t mind waiting a little longer.
