Frank Mayo bet with Lew Cody on the Dempsey-Firpo match. Each agreed to act as the other's chauffeur for a week if he lost. Mayo bet on Firpo and he recently spent a week carrying Lew's luggage and driving his car.

Lew Cody and Frank Mayo had a bet on the Dempsey-Firpo fight. Frank lost, and when Lew returned to California he served him as a chauffeur for one solid week. Here is the scene which transpired when Lew alighted from his train.

Watching the Crawford vs Molina Jr fight and.....Molina reminds me of Luis Firpo, his overall style is very similar & he's extremely wild and sloppy but still dangerous. I mean Firpo was a better fighter no doubt but Molina fights just like him.

Jack Dempsey vs. Luis Angel Firpo, September 14th, 1923
The really amazing thing about this video (aside from the history of the fight itself) - Charlie had 200 tickets for the first few rows that he gave to people. Torrio, Nucky Johnson, Al Capone, were all here... there's a pretty spectacular chance that one of those not-so-clearly-visible fellows immediately in front of the ring is AR, or Charlie. It'd be the only time AR was ever on film, and one of two times for Charlie, in that case.
Ugh. History feels.
