Tonight’s dessert was Apfel- Marzipan Kuchen. A #German apple and almond cake from Classic German Baking by #LuisaWeiss. A book I’ll be Baking my way through this winter season. I’ve had it since it came out and am just now really getting into it. It’s a wonderful book. A slice of this Kuchen went very well with a glass of #evanwilliams1783 #bourbon

It was bread night. My brown #irish bread came out fine as usual but my first go at Franzbrötchen not so well. Taste & texture were great but form not so much. You can see what they should look like in the foreground photo from Classic German Baking by #luisaweiss A Christmas gift. I've been waiting for such a great tome of German baking. Sometimes you learn more from you mistakes-but at least this one tastes good!#franzenbrötchen #bread #deutscher #german

Christmas Baking Advent Day 11: Dunkler Kirschkuchen, a German spiced chocolate cherry cake from @WednesdayChef cookbook Classic German Baking. I couldn't refuse the combination of warm spices, double chocolate, almond, and sour cherries! Lightening the stiff batter with meringue was a little awkward but the cake did come out with great texture. If it didn't take such a long time to bake, I could have enjoyed it with my afternoon coffee. Will share with friends tomorrow night instead.
