#Lesbiantober - Day 12 // Amar es para Siempre, (Show, 2013) "Mira, yo te quiero...pero a veces no te soporto".
credit to LUIMELIA!
on the previous page, i've published a brief writing about "Luisita" and it has been liked by many people who come accross from Luimelia fandom or just like me who randomly found the shippeo. by that fact, i'm going to write again about "Luimelia" at all, not just Luisita Gomez, because without Amelia Ledesma, the character who is played by Carol Rovira, it will never happen Luimelia like Luimelia that we adore so much. i've already came to my decision if someone else has been playing those characters, maybe i won't write this.
so, why do i adore Luimelia so much? why do i love the representation of lesbian characters in Luimelia from Amar Es Para Siempre till the spin off Luimelia? why do i feel connected with the representation?
first, the question of why do i adore Luimelia so much. the simple answer is because i've been learning Spanish for almost 1,5 year and by watching their conversation, i get so much insight that makes me being the smartest student in the class hehehe. but, that's not all the reason. so far, with their daily lives, their dramas, their interactions on screen, feel so real to me. look, i don't say that sometimes there aren't hyperscenes or a lot of dramas, but over all, the characters can make it real. even on Amar Es Para Siempre which is has the situation and atmosphere on the year 70s, i still can connect with Luisita and Amelia. especially here in my country, where LGBTQ is still banned, illegal, invisible, and presecuted, i feel like Indonesia is Madrid when it was the year 70s like on Amar Es Para Siempre. can you imagine my feeling when i scroll my social media account and see lesbian around the world can be free to express their love even they can get married legally meanwhile here in Indonesia, i still have to introduce my girlfriend as my bestfriend? The relativity between Madrid on the year 70s and Indonesia nowdays is the reason why i adore Luimelia, especially their characters on Amar.
second, the question of why do i love the representation of lesbian characters in Luimelia from Amar Es Para Siempre till the spin off Luimelia. the answer is because they come from working class society, both on Amar and the spin off. on Amar, Luisita and Amelia have to work to make a living. there is no story the rich falling in love with the poor, all equals. They work at the hotel, at the bar, at the restaurant, whatever they do for living and saving. even though Amelia is an artist, but she is also realistic that just being an artist isn't enough. that's a good example for young generation. but on spin off, their characters are a little bit different which i say them as working class lesbian in the modern age. even in their interview for Lumelia Temporada 4, Carol Rovira made a statement that even at the beginning of the season, they will start with a very realistic thing, that is an issue for buying a house which isn’t always easy to realize it. that's why i am gonna say that Luimelia is the best representation of lesbian characters so far. they are equals and they are our daily reality.
third, the question of why do i feel connected with the representation. we have the same age. the age where we all have the quarter life-crisis, questioning are we on the right path, questioning what will we do next, doubting our capacity, doubting our dream, and sometimes we have some mental health issues. not only from the individual characters, but also from their relationship. when we come from working class, do we all have the same conversation with Luisita and Amelia? as we have the same age, do we all have the same problems with Luisita and Amelia? it makes me feel connected with them.
it's all that i can say based on my personal opinion about Luimelia. they aren't not perfect as characters, but they are real life. last but not least, again, thanks for whoever brings Luisita and Amelia characters on screen. the real life representation matters for us.
Boa noite, bom dia, boa tarde, já admiraram a beleza desse casal hoje?
