The only song I know for St Brigid’s Day/Imbolc: Don’t Be Afraid of the Light that Shines Within You, by Luka Bloom.
And we shouldn’t be afraid of it. We need all the light we can get right now. 💙🌿🌞

Shadow’s Showdown Chapter 36 - The Broken Ones.
When she opened the drawer of the nightstand, placed next to the bed, she noticed a slightly crumpled Golden Icarus cigarette box, and the last cigarette in it. Her hands suddenly began to tremble. She remembered her answer to Adam’s question.
"I know it's silly, but I imagine we exchange a kiss then, and there is nothing more wonderful in this world than the touch of your lips."
Longing enveloped her in the cold chill of the bedding, she felt like it was dripping from the ceiling onto her face and running down her cheeks in salty drops.

Shadow’s Showdown Chapter 32 - The Return.
"Even a dirty rag can be clean again, as it was before," he said calmly. "Whatever took place, I'm sure it can be explained. You just have to be able to listen to the silence and find it in the midst of the screaming."
Chapter 32 [dA]
my grandad past away 30 years ago today. though i never came close to meeting him in the flesh, though he never even set foot on the continent i was born to, he has always been alive in me. that is what my dad believed and what he taught me to believe. i inherited so much of who i am from this man i never met. there has been a lifelong ache in my heart, that has always lived there, longing to have known him and have him here on earth with me.
in my love for celtic music and hospitality soccer and the arts and storytelling, i feel his presence, for i know he lived for all of these things. he was adored as a jack-of-all-trades in his small irish town. i am so grateful to have descended from my grandad. he grew up poor and humble and died poor and humble. i don’t know that he knew God in a traditional sense but i know he knew him in his heart--i know he poured out God’s joy and love into all of his passions.
my prayer, which has been a central prayer for a long time now, is healing over my relationship with my dad who i have been estranged from for the past 6 years. my dad made me feel like i grew up with my grandad--as if we were just separated by the broad atlantic. my estrangement from my dad has left me feeling severed from my ancestors, especially my grandad. i hope so hard i ache, to one day reconcile with my father, inherit my granddads accordion and channel his hospitable, loving, spontaneous spirit through music.
