last night i had kinda a crisis, about the friction between the world and me.
i remember what luke spiller of the struts said at riotfest.
when they were first signed, the head of the record label would call him and tell him "i think it's time we stopped it with the makeup luke."
the crowd booed. the song was leading in.
"i think it's about time you started wearing some normal clothes, what are you trying to be a transvestite"
"you know what i said to that bitch?"
and he did his call and response, vocalizing and bringing the crowd into it with him. glamour and hope and vindication.
i think about that a lot, about the look i saw on his face. the residual pain, still aching, and the joy of having made it to a stage to tell it.
i hope to have half the stuff that luke struts has one day.
