more tmf fanart of ‘the story of the singing asshole’ by @leiziie on ao3! I really enjoyed the latest chapter and thought ‘why not make fanart?’ Besides I’ve been wanting to draw all the pairings. However I opted for my simple artsyle instead because I really wanted to get this done before I lost motivation lol (also because I am probably the slowest artist there is). Really hope I did the edits justice!!
I am unironically super curious about who is and isn’t canonically supposed to be on the boys’ soccer team in tmf. It has literally no relevance to the plot, but I need to know. So here are my opinions/theories on the all the guys relevant to this:
We know Drew has to be on the team, since he’s super invested in the soccer game during gym class and has soccer posters in his bedroom. It would be weirder at this point if it was revealed he wasn’t on the soccer team.
Jake is a toss-up, he doesn’t seem super enthusiastic about any part of soccer that doesn’t include showing off for girls. But I could see him being on the team just because Drew’s on it and he wants to fit in. Since Rosy is from Britain, I’m guessing soccer in this show is meant to be the equivalent of how in stereotypical American high school movies, all the popular guys play American football. So it would kind of fit with Jake’s character for him to be on the team just because the other popular people are, even if he doesn’t care about soccer himself.
Henry definitely isn’t on the team, or at the very least it’s unlikely. He barely participates in the game during gym class and seems to be more busy talking on the sidelines than playing. Given how Rosy likes to lean into him being a weeb and all the stereotypes that involves, I’m guessing she’s not planning to characterize him as athletic.
Suprisingly, Liam does actually seem somewhat invested in the soccer game during gym, and not for any reason that has to do with girls. And him being passionate about anything not relating to girls is oddly rare for him. However, it could also be argued that Liam’s just mad Jake messed up the pass Liam gave to him because now Liam might be blamed for their team’s loss as well. Which only reinforces how Liam is the one to most commonly put his trust in Jake despite being consistently let down, haha. I could definitely see Liam being on the soccer team, though, especially since he seems to be putting in a lot more effort than Henry, to the point that they actually separate for what I believe is the only time in the entirety of season one. Honestly, I’m desperate for Liam to have any confirmed interests, so I’d even be down for him being unexpectedly confirmed to be the team captain in the future or something. Please tmf, give him a hobby unrelated to his love life, I beg of you. Make him into soccer. Or video games. Anything.
Luke…Is also a toss-up. He could be on the soccer team, since it seems like he has some skill at the game during gym. And it would also give us a reason for why he’s so strong, even stronger than Milly; he does sports and works out. And it would also give another reason for why he’s so popular, if we are going with the assumption that this is the stereotypical popular guy sport in this show. So I’m leaning towards yes for him.
And for basically everyone else I’m assuming no, since we don’t see them playing in the one soccer game we see. Under that logic, Hailey could be on the softball team, which I could kind of see, though we have similarly little evidence for it, and she seems dedicated to spending most of her time on the music club. So who knows.

JAKE - he is a rom com protagonist crossed with a disney protagonist. yes he will sing about it and dance with birds like he's a princess. yes he will celebrate in the bathroom after he successfully manages to say a coherent sentence to you without spontaneously combusting.
he ABSOLUTELY will be vulnerable with you, and only you. his love language is physical touch and words of affirmation.
HAILEY - she'd rather die than admit it...until a certain point when she just tells you. yeah the tsundere bs gets old after a while.
she loves quality time and acts of service. if she cuddles with you, congrats, she adores you and yes she IS planning your wedding, your honeymoon, and exactly how many kids you'll have.
ZANDER - he’s actually not as much of a tsundere. well kinda. instead of saying "your singing sucks" he'd probably say "it's...adequate." translation: it was gorgeous and he wants to marry you on the spot.
love language is acts of service and quality time. he will flirt with you, but he also easily gets flustered himself. and best of all: YOU GET TO PLAY THE PIANO NOW!! that said, he is blunt and will get jealous. just know that.
LUKE - he is very melodramatic but in a different way. he will go on super long walks with you and he will write full on poems/songs about how much he loves you. he will let you wear his scarf, he will cuddle with you, and he will flirt with you.
he adores gifts and acts of service. you will go on walks in the park with him. anyone who crosses you gets judged aggressively by him.
MILLY - she will most definitely be flustered around you before you two start dating. she loves quality time and words of affirmation. she will flex her muscles and she will definitely spar with you at least once. she will also play guitar riffs for you.
she's not PDA central, so don't expect like 400 billion kisses, but she's not averse to it. she will cuddle you. she will insist on being the big spoon.
SEAN - he’s chill about it, and direct as well. he will tell you he loves you upfront. no theatrics, no drama.
his love language is acts of service and quality time. HE GIVES AWESOME CUDDLES. he will let you use his headphones, and if and when he does, just know it’s him showing just how much he trusts you. he will write songs with you. he will take you out for dinner.
