THE BLURB YOU REQUESTED

You were actually really looking forward to being a counsellor at the Summer Music Camp this year. Your junior year had been somewhat of a mess, but spending almost the entire summer doing and teaching what you loved in a town 8 hours away sounded like absolute heaven. You could disappear for two months without anybody hounding you for an essay you hadn’t written on a book you hadn’t read, no one asking for a lift to school for nothing in return and no mountainous, obnoxious, annoying-as-all-hell, pierced-lip, boastful prick picking on you day in and day out. Luke Hemmings was not going to exist for as long as you were away. 

You got to the camp a day before all the students were due to arrive, just like you were requested to. You were barely able to contain your excitement as you were assigned your cabin and schedule for the next two months. You were teaching the Girls’ Choir and also doing some of the individual student lessons, and you would also be running the Camp Choir with another counsellor who was yet to be named. You didn’t really care who it was going to be at this point, you wanted to start straight away. 

Dinner was just about ready to be served in the Mess Hall so you wandered over, taking in the last rays of sun on the way, unable to keep the grin off of your face at the smell of fresh air and the promise of good music making - that is, until you felt yourself smack hard into something tall and firm, knocking you out of your daydreams and straight on your ass. 

“Fuck!” You yelled out on impact, the pain shooting through your butt and right up your back, right when the person you’d run into mumbled out a “Hey!” You squinted up at whoever was staring down on you and you could have sworn you died a little bit on the inside when you saw the familiar blue eyes staring back and the body that belonged to them donning the same Camp Counsellor t-shirt you had on. 

“Well this is awkward.” Luke huffed, and for once he wasn’t smirking or frowning at you. He actually looked a little sheepish, like he’d been caught doing something he shouldn’t have been. 

“What the hell are you doing here?!” You cried as you (without realising) let the giant boy help you up. “When did you get here?! Why?!” You were seething in panic and Luke didn’t look too happy about it himself either. 

“I could ask you the same thing.” He shot at you a little grumpily, though you didn’t miss the way his cheeks stained a slight pink. 

“I asked first.” You spat back. Luke just made a face and shifted on his feet. 

“Why do you care?” He challenged, stepping toward you as if to try and intimidate you. 

“I don’t.” You stepped forward too. 

“You followed me here, didn’t you?” The smirk was back, lip ring pulling against his bottom lip.

“What?! No! Why would- no way!” You felt yourself stammer, your heart racing in your chest as Luke grabbed the upper-hand on you yet again.

“I think you did.” he snorted. “You like me don’t you?” You threw your hands in the air and groaned in frustration as you walked away after the flirtatious wink the boy shot down on you. This was going to be a long summer.
