Unusual Love // Luke Hemmings
September 8, 2016 (Part 1)
One day. 24 hours. 1440 minutes. 86400 seconds. That's how long I have waited until I finally get to see the band that changed my life. I've been waiting four years to see them. Ever since their covers on YouTube, my life has been changed forever. I was currently sitting on my bed trying to work on my paper for English. Being a freshman in college and a fan of band who you're seeing tomorrow is not easy. I only had two out of five pages done. But my mind kept fluttering back to the concert. I even turned off my phone so I wouldn't get distracted with tweets ad messages. All I could hear was the ticking of the clock on my table and the sound of typing from my fingers. I was in the middle of my thoughts finally coming together when my roommate entered my room.
"Hey. Do you know where my boots are? I've been looking for them for an hour." She asked me, scanning my room for her shoes.
"Have you checked under the sofa? You tend to throw things under there for some unknown reason." I asked, not looking up from my computer.
"No I have not. Thanks Nessie."
She walked away leaving my door open. I shook my head and continued to work. And onto page three. I knew I would have to write a lot of essays in college but three in the matter of two weeks is ridiculous.
"Found them!" Mila yelled from the living room.
I heard her footsteps walk up to my room again.
"Are you still working?" She asked, now holding her shoes.
"Yes. Not everyone is as book smart as you. I've been working for hours now and I've only got two and a quarter of a page. My mind keeps going to the concert tomorrow." I whined.
"Oh yeah. I'm super excited! I don't even know what I'm wearing. But anyways, I'm sure you'll finish it soon. I'm meeting Tristan at Starbucks. I'll bring you back something. S'mores frappucino?" She stated.
"Yes please. I love you." I told her with a smile.
She was closing the door.
I know." She said dragging out the word.
When she left, I continued to work. After an hour and a half later, I was finally finished with the paper. I rushed to print it because knowing my luck, the internet would crash and there goes my paper. The printer was finished and I grabbed the warm papers, placing them in my binder. I also emailed it to my teacher. I laid on my bed releasing a sigh of relief and finally checking my phone. I had a ton of Twitter notifications and a few texts.
@LukeHemmings Excited to play Chula Vista tomorrow! Hope to see everyone there! 😁
And favorite and retweet.
@MichaelClifford Anyone know where I can get hotdogs? Ya boy is hungry.
And comment, favorite and retweet. A bunch of my notifications were from a update account I followed. Sometimes I think that at one point I would get tired about hearing about this band, but not yet. I favorited a bunch of their tweets. The most recent was one with the guys with fans. I clicked on a picture and noticed the building behind them. It was a book store down the street from my college. It was tweeted less than two minutes ago. My brain kicked into overdrive. I rushed to put on some shoes and a sweater. I practically ran out my room. I decided to text Mila.
To: Milly 👯 5sos alert! Near the bookstore! Going there now! Meet you there!
I put the phone in my back pocket and pushed the button to the elevator. I was getting frustrated because it was taking a million years. My finger hit the button a couple more times until I finally heard the ding. I quickly got in and pressed the first floor button. My phone vibrated on my butt.
From: Milly 👯 On my way!!
The elevator stopped and the doors opened. I squeezed between them before they were fully open. I ran through the lobby like a maniac. I felt people staring at me but I could care less. I don't even see half these people during the day. My hand reached out to open the lobby door. The book store was on the next block and I could see the crowd of people. Oh crap. I walked up to the crowd but I couldn't manage to spot any of the 5sos boys. A hand touched my shoulder and I whipped my head around. It was Milly, out of breath and a little sweaty.
"I ran." She stated plainly.
I just said okay and continued to try to get through. But it was too late. Security started yelling, saying that everyone had to leave. Something about the store owner complaining about the commotion and noise. Fuck him. The crowd become more calm from the intense look of the security. A black van pulled up and the boys started to get in. I saw a glimpse of each of their hair but that was it.
"Well that was a bust." Milly said to me.
"Yeah I know. Do you have my coffee?" I questioned.
She looked at me blankly.
"No I do not. I could barely leave Tristan."
"Aw man. You suck."
She didn't respond. She turned around and started to walk back. I laughed at myself and walked to catch up with her. I bumped into her with my shoulder and she did it back. It progressed to a point where we both almost fell onto the ground. We walked into the lobby.
"Hey. Look who it is." She said, pointing to the corner of the room.
I saw his dark brown hair from the chair. A groan left my lips.
"I swear he's everywhere. He's like a mole on your back. You can't see him, but he's always there."
"Ew. Okay. But he's sweet and he's cute. I do not understand why you don't like him."
"I don't either. I just don't. Now come on before he's sees me."
I grabbed her hand and tried to make a beeline for the elevator. She began to laugh.
"I think it's too late for that."
"Shut up Milly." My voice actually filled with fear.
I was facing towards the elevator, furiously hitting the button. Until I heard a voice on the side of me. My forehead hit the still closed doors.
"Hey Vanessa."
I rolled my eyes before turning around. I leaned my back against the door and made eye contact.
"Hello Patrick."
"How are you today? You look really pretty."
"Thanks. And Patrick you know-"
I couldn't finish my sentence before the doors open and I landed on my back.
"Oh my god. Are you okay Nessie?" Milly asked from outside the doors.
Patrick reached out his hand and I reluctantly grabbed it.
"Yeah. Fine. We gotta go Patrick. But good talking to you."
I grabbed Mila and yanked her into the elevator. When the doors were closing, he was standing and waving.
"He is so in love with you and you are such a bitch to him." She said.
"You know I've tried to let him down easy, multiple times. It didn't work. So now he gets this side of me."
The doors opened.
"Plus we have more things to worry about. Like the concert tomorrow!" I squealed.
I slid my card into the door and pushed it open.
"You're right. Not to mention are failed are attempt to-"
I put my finger to her lips and shook my head.
"Never speaking of that again. Goodnight Milly."
I walked away to my room.
"Night Nessie!"
And time to sleep. I changed into a oversized t-shirt and unhooked my bra. I shimmied under the covers and eventually went to sleep with the excitement and anxiousness for tomorrow.

Stuck // Luke Hemmings AU
-1-
The alarm on my phone woke me up, causing a groan to escape my lips. My arm reached out and slid the lock screen to stop the noise. My head was still under the covers as I laid there, my body refusing to get up from my comfortable bed. No matter what anyone says, your bed is the most comfortable in the morning right before school. I yanked the covers off and threw my legs over to the edge of the bed. My feet hit the floor. I opened my door and walked downstairs. My dad was sitting at the counter, coffee in hand, talking to my friend Ashton. They waved at me and I gave a groan as a response back.
I trudged over to the fridge and grabbed the container of juice. Pouring , I sat down with both of them.
"You're over mighty early Mr. Irwin. Morning dad." I said, sipping the juice.
"Morning Storm. Hey, are you walking or am I driving you?" My dad asked me.
I raised my eyebrows. I walked over to him and tossed my arm on his shoulder.
"Dad. You haven't driven me since eighth grade. I think I got this." I said matter of factly.
"Plus she has me. Don't worry, Mr. Madison. She's in good hands." Ashton placed a hand on my dad's shoulder.
"Yes I know Ashton. It's just my baby's growing up. She's gonna be a senior."
He looked at me. Oh no. I knew this look. The look he gave right before embarrassing me by fake crying. I removed myself from him and put my hands up in defense. "Oh. Nope. I'm going to get changed." I announced.
I turned around and quickly scurried back to my room. I went to my bathroom and brushed my teeth. I'm glad I decided to take my shower last night, I was already late on getting dressed. I pulled out my black jeans that were shredded across the knee and paired it with my white crop top. After sliding on my socks, I picked up my black booties and placed them on my feet. My backpack was swung over my shoulder and I was heading back downstairs.
"Ready Ash?" I asked him.
"You look cute." He answered.
"I always look cute. Now come on before we're late. Bye dad."
I pulled Ashton off the chair and waved to my dad. We walked out the door and proceeded on to school. Walking to school with Ashton was our morning tradition. He was one of my best friends. He was surprisingly good at giving advice and he always kept me positive. We met in the ninth grade when I accidentally hit him in the face with a door. It was instant friendship. He was talking but I wasn't hearing the actual words. The smile he wore almost 24/7 put me in trance. The dimples didn't help either. I'm pretty tall for a girl, so the height makes me him ten times more attractive.
"Hey? Storm? Did you hear me?" He said, shaking me.
I shook myself out of my thoughts.
"Ugh. No. What?"
I adjusted my backpack hopefully to play off the fact that I was just staring at him.
"I said we're meeting the guys at the school. They said they would wait."
The 'guys' are my other friends. Calum, Michael, and Jenna. Calum and Michael are bffs with Ashton. And Jenna was my first girl friend. So we sort of just fused our friend groups together and it worked out. For the most part.
"The guys. You mean all of them?" I questioned while raising an eyebrow.
"Yes Stormie. Even Luke."
I scoffed and crossed my arms.
"You know one day, you guys are going to be friends." He said with a smile.
"Yeah. The day I die."
"He's not even that bad. I mean he can be a dumbass, but he's a good friend. Plus you both have similar sense of humor. Sarcastic. rude, dirty, -"
"Okay! I get it, but you're missing one piece of crucial evidence that separates us." I interrupt him saying.
"And what is that?" He stopped at looked at me.
I stopped along with him and looked directly into his eyes. I placed my hand on his shoulder. He looked at it and laughed.
"I'm not a dick."
He responded with a loud laugh. I could only assume because he knew it was true. Luke Hemmings will never in a million years be my friend. He acts like a dick and is the perfect example of a man whore.
"Okay little miss perfect. Let's get to school."
After finishing his chuckle, we resumed walking to school with our usual normal conversations. The walk seemed longer than last year. Since it was the first day of senior year, I assumed that it would go faster. Everything would go faster. But just like the walk, it was apparent that this year was going to take just as long as the rest of them.
Once we made it pass the douche bags and the girls who have 'everything', we spotted our group in front of Michael's car. Michael and Jenna were hanging onto each other. I guess his three month long summer trip caused a little separation anxiety. Calum was on the side of them on his phone. And Luke was being, well Luke.
"Ich. Can't tell if that was for Michael and Jenna or just Luke." I informed.
Jenna looked at me and ran over. Her arms were thrown around me, nearly causing me to stop breathing. After our hellos, Michael and Calum came over to hug me. The boys definitely grew to at least a head taller than me now. They all pulled back and looked at Luke.
"Can you not be a dick for two minutes? You haven't seen her in three months." Michael said, reattaching his hand to Jenna's waist.
"See? Even Luke's friends think he's a dick. It's a sign." I whispered to Ashton.
He jokingly pushed me away. Luke got off of the car and strutted over to me. He also got taller over the past few months. Normally, the top of my head would be at least to his nose but now I'm at his shoulders.
"It's good to see you Stormie." He forced out.
I crossed my arms and faked a smile, like I normally do.
"You too, Hemmings."
He leaned down a little to where out could meet.
"Looks like summer did you well. That's the one reason I wish could have seen you all summer. Because you in a bathing suit really gets me-"
His hand grazed my bare side and I pushed him away as I hard as I could. He laughed at me. I turned towards the others and shook my head.
"I can not deal with that. Come on Jenna, let's go. Somewhere."
She nodded and kissed Michael goodbye. I waved to the others and told them I would see them later. We walked to the front of the school and she linked arms with me.
"One day, you two will be best friends." She said sweetly.
"Why does everyone keep saying that?" I exasperated.
"I know you. Deep down I know you like him."
"Maybe. Deep, deep, deep down there. Oh wait. Nope its still hate."
She just giggled. I rolled my eyes at her and we entered the building.
*Luke POV*
I watched her walk away with Jenna. The way her boots hit the ground causing her hips to move at a certain rhythm. Her hair was down her back so all you could was the bottom of her shirt with her bare back exposed. I could see the other guys looking at her with the same look I was. And I didn't like it. A hand hit my shoulder. I turned around see Calum and the others looking at me with smirks.
"It's been three years. I don't think it's happening mate." Calum said with a hint of pity.
"It will. Don't worry."
I was being hopeful, but some part of me knew that it was over. I wanted her so bad. Senior year has to be the year I get Stormie Madison.
