it was only until i started learning python for the first time in 2nd year of uni did i realize how unnecessarily difficult java is and why it took me so long to get comfortable with it. printing hello world in python is literally one line. ONE. LINE. but with java you first have to initialize the class, then the main method and you can’t even just say print. i almost wanted to cry at how simple python is. and the twist is i’ve actually developed a fondness for java over the years. call it a trauma bond but i actually do think it’s a beautiful language and quite sad how it’s losing popularity. i definitely don’t think it should be scraped completely from curriculums but surely let’s not make one of the more intimidating programming languages the introduction to a cs degree.
