Okay so my pianjeong hc is that at some point they definitely had a fight where they switched weapons (100% jjs idea bc that's feral gremlin energy right there) and maybe Iroh walked in on them and it's just Piandao fighting with a torch and winning bc it's basically a sword that's on fire while jj is struggling with the actual sword because you know... firebender. Iroh just walks away and is like yup this seems right. (Also abby ily im sending hugs)
INCREDIBLE. i lo(u)ve you. this is definitely jj’s idea and he’s like “look how hard could it be, it’s just a really long fire dagger, whatever” (and/or he’s actually done the fire sword thing) EXCEPT he didn’t take into account that real swords have weight and balance and that he. does Not know how to deal with that and it’s really all a mess
and he’s like “stop going easy on me” and piandao’s like “what im not” (he is. rule number one do not set ur bf on fire)
iroh walking in and then immediately walking right back out is GOLD hes like “uh-huh, okay, not gonna see how this ends” (spoiler alert it ends with jj putting out piandao’s torch for the satisfaction of winning one (1) time bc piandao has done the thing where he puts the sword under jj’s chin a few too many times and turnabout is fair play)
