Oh those are great points. I did a similar assignment in my native studies class in college. We pointed out how racists and demeaning the different native american tribes were portrayed in movies. You could use the Natives of Australia in the same context. I see no reason you cannot bring up transgenders and people of different sexual orientations because that is exactly the examples you can find for this assignment. Natives, Trans, Homosexual. They are all part of ALL WALKS OF LIFE.))

I figured some stuff out by asking on FB so that was good, I think I might be good in terms of things now at least.

I will but with the Transgender stuff it might just piss off my school, dunno, I'd like to play safe.

(If I were you I would research the most popular Aussie tv shows and movies today and watch a few clips on youtube or something and draw conclusions on how the characters are portrayed through your own observations. For examples if they are for all walks of life how many transgenders are shown or non white people because with US you don't see as much. The majority of the characters are white and straight and the gender they are born with.)

I know most of Aussie stuff to get along since we did it in class. Like our stuff is pretty shitty since we aren't very kind to Aborigines and the like, put them in a bad light. Make them almost like savages and jfc they aren't.

Since my school is Chistian and I would love to talk about how transgenders are shown in different media, I don't think it would be taken well.

But it is highly agreed that most are in TV (here at least) are White / Australian.

(for the last one. If you look at the US media. It is very onesided and most women on film are blond skinny and dumb. Then most men are macho and ridiculously good looking. There is rarely a show in the media of what true everyday americans look like. For example sizism comes into a account. The women in the media are portray as glams and all one size when in the reality is many woman in America are over weight and varying sizes and heights.))

Yeah agreed, I know more American shows than Aussie so thats mainly the problem
