He wasn’t hundred percent sure when or how he’d gotten home but he knew from the feel of the sheets that he was in his own bed. He reached out, stretching against the pillows and squinting in the sun coming in from the window.
“Urgh.” He rolled over, reaching out searching for the glass of water he knew constantly sat beside his bed.
“You split it last night.” A light voice came from the doorway and James rolled over towards it.
Holding a cup of tea and wearing one of his training shirts was his girlfriend, Lily Evans.
“Is that for me?” He pushed himself onto his elbows and nodded towards the tea in her hand. She made her way over to him, sitting on the bed. He took the tea, gulped it down in two sips and curled towards her lap.
Her hands automatically went into his hair, running her fingers through the messy locks. He closed his eyes and sighed.
“So, how’s the head?” She stifled her laugh by pressing a kiss onto his forehead.
He whined, “Lily… take care of me.”
“You don’t remember last night at all , do you?” James moaned against her legs, and she laughed again.
“Tell me I didn’t kiss Sirius again.” He looked up at her, “Because it took me a year to live that down and get him to lay off after last time.”
“No. You didn’t kiss Sirius.” Her fingers traced a pattern through his hair, “But can you remind me to ask about that one later?”
“Never.” He sighed again, the patterns she was tracing relaxing his aches from the previous night, “So, if it wasn’t Sirius, what did I do? Because you’re being extra nice with all the head pats so it must have been up there.”
“What? I’m not allowed to give my fiancé special treatment the morning after he proposes.”
“That’s hilarious but I haven’t even decided on the ring I wanted—” He shot up into a sitting position, eyes wide, “Wait, what?”
Lily lifted her left hand showing him the diamond ring his father had given to him at the beginning of the school term, “I’m guessing you really don’t remember then.”
“Lily, I—” He was confused. How much alcohol had he had that had made him throw out his carefully laid plans to take her by surprise and have the perfect engagement story. “What the hell did I do?!”
Lily dropped her hand, her smiling falling.
“Oh no,” James pulled her into his lap, “Don’t think I didn’t mean it because I did. It’s just… I definitely didn’t plan it to be at a sleazy bar in the city, and when I couldn’t remember it.”
“James, I love you.” He smiled at her, placing a soft kiss on her cheek, “And I want to marry you if that’s what you want too. But I understand if you’re not sure yet, you were drunk and that’s okay.”
He rolled off the bed, pulling her along with him. Placing his hands on her hips, he moved her into the middle of his room and dropped to one knee, “Lilian Evans, love of my life, the best kisser in the world, the one who looks after me when I’m hungover, will you marry me?”
What board games did you think the marauders and Lily Mary were into? Did they play cut throat games of Monopoly? Who slayed at scrabble? Who always one uno? I really feel like they would have absolutely loved playing board games together!
during the summer of 4th year they spend a few days at each of their respected homes (minus sirius, of course, who apologises constantly about it and is clearly incredibly upset that he can’t give them the same hospitality that they gave him - but everyone loves him and tells him not to blame himself)
at peter’s house mr pettigrew brings out an old, smelly and ancient board game of othello to which peter is massively mortified and groans and is like ‘not again, dad, they’re not going to be interested’
but james and sirius take one look at the game and think its FASCINATING and immediately ask mr pettigrew how to play it. peter and his dad explain the rules and they’re really amazed and interested at the game
they each have a game, starting with james and sirius (because they’re ADAMANT TO GO FIRST because they’re really excited lol bless them) but the game is rather long since the two boys keep forgetting the rules and peter and lily (who later admits she’s really good at the game) have to comment now and then about the rules - lily and peter (ofc) are the reigning champions, but james does pretty well and is very chuffed with how well he beats mary
when they go to lily’s she brings out scrabble and james and sirius are enthralled again
but sirius is eliminated because he tries to use french words for everything
remus wins that game, but mary does bring out the big guns of ‘quizzify’ to which everyone is really impressed)
when they finally get to mary’s james and sirius have already heard so much about monopoly that they’re literally bouncing on their feet from excitement
sirius immediately sees the dog and claims it, james ends up with the iron and is incredibly gloomy about it
mary, remus, sirius and lily keep going to jail and dorcas buys all the train stations except for ONE which james buys at the very last chance. there are hotels and double houses on almost every single space and it’s like EVERYONE IS THE ENEMY
they end up playing the game for almost four hours (by that time mary’s already ran out of money and sirius and peter quickly follow) dorcas becomes the champion because everyone keeps landing on her stations and they STILL talk about the game all the way back at hogwarts and all the pure bloods are like ?????//
it becomes a Thing they do each summer and then in sixth year peter runs into common room one day with this ecstatic, excited look on his face, carrying a package. it’s monopoly and even though it’s 10pm on a wednesday evening, the group decide to play it again
needless to say - they’re still playing it at 1am, the train stations are divided between mary, sirius, peter and remus, the hotels and houses are everywhere, there’s an insane amount of money in the middle and allies are made and broken
the next day they have transfiguration first thing and they’re all so tired and walking around like zombies, mcgonagall asks sirius a question and he mutters something about a get out of jail free card
If you take requests, could you write something where James sneaks into Lily's room during the holidays and gets caught by Mr or Mrs Evans lying in bed with her the next morning?
Oh, hi, this is an old prompt. I am so sorry that it hastaken me so long (I’m not actually sure how long, but I’m sure it’s beenseveral months) to get back to you. I kind of disappeared for a while and thenwhen I came back, it took me a while to remember to look at my inbox. Anyway, thanks for requesting this! It was a lot of fun to write.
James was usually one to wake quite suddenly and completely. Itwas something his mates used to question rather often before they had grownaccustomed to it: how he could wake from a deep sleep and jump to standingfully alert at a moment’s notice, no matter how much or little sleep he hadgotten.
For the first time in as long as he could remember, James wokedisoriented. It likely had something to do with the large hands pullinghim from the bed and depositing him roughly on the cold wood floor.
“What the bloody hell is going on here!” bellowed a gruff, deep, terrifying voice.
James blinked up at the large, broad-chested, auburn-haired manstanding over him. He recognized him immediately as Lily’s father from thetrain station. He also realized rather suddenly that he was wearing nothing buthis snitch-patterned shorts in this large, angry man’s daughter’s bedroom at…well, he didn’t know what time it was exactly, but James would hazard to guessthat it was very early in the morning.
“Er – hello, Mr. Evans,” James said in an attempt to defuse thesituation. “I’m James Potter.”
Mr. Evans glared down at him and took a small step forward. Jamessurmised that he was probably a bit taller than Lily’s father, but muchnarrower and most definitely unable to defend himself from his girlfriend’sangry father without his wand, which he vaguely remembered tossing somewhere inthe vicinity of Lily’s nightstand the night before. It wasn’t like he could usehis wand against a Muggle anyway, even if he did have it on him.
So, with no other option, James did the only thing he could thinkof. “Lily?” he said loudly, reaching up onto the bed to touch Lily’s hand.
Unlike James, Lily took her sweet time waking up every morningwithout fail. Usually, James loved to watch her stretch and yawn and mewlherself awake. This morning, however, he had no time for that. He gave her handa quick squeeze. “Lovely?”
“Get your hands off my daughter.”
“Dad? What…” Lily leaned closer to the edge of her bed, ahorrified expression on her face when she saw James sprawled, undignified as he was, at her father’s feet.
For a moment, the three of them were locked in a terribly awkwardsilence. Then, Lily cleared her throat.
“Obviously, this wasn’t how I planned for your first meeting togo,” she said a bit groggily. “Dad, this is my boyfriend, James Potter. James, this is my father.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir,” James lied spectacularlyunconvincingly as he reached up with his right hand while keeping his left handover his bits. Just in case.
“Get out of my daughter’s room,” Mr. Evans said, ignoring James’sproffered hand with an outraged glare.
“Dad…” Lily warned.
“What the bloody hell is he doing in your bedroom at half six inthe morning, young lady?”
“What are you doing inmy bedroom at half six?”
James grimaced as he watched Lily and her father silently squareoff. He wasn’t normally one to stay silent in an awkward situation such asthis, but he couldn’t for the life of him think of a thing to say that wouldn’tmake the entire situation worse.
So sorry, Mr.Evans. I just can’t control myself when it comes to your daughter. She’s veryfit, you see.
That would only get him killed faster.
I’m in lovewith her, might help in the long run, but James doubted it would doanything to make Mr. Evans not want to strangle him with his bare hands at themoment. He saw now where she got her intimidating glare from, but while he hadlearned to temper her, at least somewhat, he was sure he could not handle herfather.
“Get out,” Mr. Evans growled again and it took James a moment torealize that he was once again talking to him.
“Oh my God, Dad. Can we get a minute alone?” Lily said. James cranedhis neck to look back at her. She looked mostly annoyed, but he could see just thetiniest hint of mortification behind the mask.
Her father either didn’t notice her distress or didn’t care infavor of his own distress because James watched him sputter, growing red beforehe started shouting. It was loud, and James knew instantly where Lily got hertemper and exceptional lungs. He could not make out most of what Mr. Evans wasshouting, owing to the sudden and very thick Irish brogue that he adopted inhis outrage, but James got the very angry gist of it.
The door opened again and a woman with blond hair and blue eyescame rushing in donning a pale green dressing gown and fluffy pink houseslippers. “What is going on in here, you two?”
Her gaze lit on James a second later and he sighed, accepting thefact that Lily’s parents were just destined to hate him. There was simply noway to save it now.
“Oh my God,” Lily’s mum said, gaze flickering from a mostly-nudeJames sat on the floor, to her puce husband towering over him, to Lily, who waseither on the verge of tears or hysterical laughter at this point.
“Please can we just havea minute to get dressed!” Lily exclaimed. “It would make this far less awkwardfor all of us, I think.”
James remembered then that she was wearing only his T-shirt fromthe night before. That was probably why she was still in bed with the coversdrawn to her midsection; he was fairly certain she wasn’t even wearing anyknickers.
“Cillian!” Mrs. Evans said sharply when her husband opened hismouth to protest.
Mr. Evans glared down at James for another few seconds before heturned and stomped wordlessly to the door.
“You be in the kitchen in five minutes,” Mrs. Evans told herdaughter sternly. Lily nodded meekly, and her mother turned to point her fingerat James. “Both of you.”
“Yes, ma’am,” James said immediately. He shifted, a bitself-conscious, when Lily‘s mum studied him for a moment.
Finally, she turned and swept from the room, closing the door behindher with a snap of her wrist. James stood gingerly, rubbing his sore ass withone hand and ruffling his hair with the other as he and Lily exchangedwide-eyes stares.
“I’m sorry. This is all my fault. If I hadn’t…” James started.
“I could’ve told you to leave.” Lily threw back the covers andstood from her bed. She stalked to the window, slammed it shut, then made herway over to him. “I could’ve sent you away, but I didn’t want you to go. I washappy to see you.”
“I should have left after, then,” James said.
“And not get your cuddles in? I think not.” Lily cracked a smallsmile and James couldn’t help himself from grinning right back.
“We do love our cuddles,” James murmured as he set his hands onher waist, used his grip to pull her close. He kissed her softly, forgettingmomentarily the horror that awaited them downstairs. He was forever gettingdistracted by her, forgetting important details whenever he managed to get hishands on her; the boys often took the mickey out of him for it.
Lily reminded him, pulling away from him with a sigh. “We hadbetter get dressed and get this over with.”
She pulled his shirt over her head and he was rewarded, for abrief moment, with the sight of his blissfully naked girlfriend standing beforehim. Then, the warm material hit him in the face when she flung it at him. Bythe time he had managed to get his shirt on, she had already found her bra andknickers and was picking his trousers up off the floor for him.
“Thanks,” he said as he tripped his way into them, fumbled withthe button and fly, and watched her sashay her way across the room to herwardrobe. She pulled out a pair of black leggings and he nearly groaned at thesight of her shimmying her way into a second skin. When she pulled out afamiliar, much-too-large jumper and pulled it on, sparing him a cheeky glanceover her shoulder, he raised an eyebrow. “So that’s where it went. I’ve beenblaming Remus all this time.”
Lily grinned at him and shrugged. “I like to wear your clothes.”
“I like you in my clothes almost as much as I like you out of myclothes,” James said as she walked over to him.
Lily gave him an appreciative nuzzle on the neck, and then restedher head on his chest, her arms wrapping around his waist. James wrapped hisarms around her back. She sighed as she twisted the hem of his T-shirt between herfingers. “Okay. Let’s go.”
“Tell me straight,” James said, pulling back and looking down ather. “Am I in grave danger?”
She laughed and grabbed their wands from her nightstand and handedJames his. “Not anymore.”
“Would you still love me if I Obliviated your parents?” James asked, twirling his wand betweenhis fingers and allowing himself to be comforted by the familiar weight of it,even if he knew it wouldn’t be of any use to him.
“Do you think you could pull it off?” Lily asked.
“Is that a challenge?” James raised an eyebrow at her andLily shot him a mock-glare.
“Careful, Mr. Potter. That line of conversation is exactlywhat got us into this mess in the first place,” Lily warned.
“Ah, yes, the mess where your parents immediately hate meupon first sight,” James said.
“It was worth it, don’t you think?” Lily paused, one hand on the doorknob, the other wrapped around his as she glanced back at him over her shoulder.
He licked his lips - he could still, he imagined, taste her from the night before. It was definitely worth it.
He let her lead him out of her bedroom to deal with theirmess the way they had faced most every problem the past six months: together. Hewasn’t looking forward to it by any means, but he loved her and he knew thatshe loved him and that her parents being disappointed in her, and disapproving ofhim, wasn’t going to change anything. Bolstered by his overwhelming love forher, and by her hand warm and soft and small in his, he followed her -straight-backed and proud and determined to make things right - into the fray.

Would you be able to recommend some things where it's getting pretty heated but Lily stops it from going any further for whatever reason (maybe she's not ready or is on her period or whatever)

I'm looking for a multichapter fic. In one chapter Snape overhears James talking to the maruaders about how he hasn't had sex with Lily yet. I'm pretty sure he says he wants to make her feel incredibly loved and wanted, and that means not rushing her. And then Sirius says something like "So you're just gonna wait until she says 'shag me James"
This sounds familiar, but we couldn’t find it. Any help?
