Accidents Happen || Lavender & Luna
Perhaps it was the old notion that distance makes the heart grow fonder, but, Lavender did not realized how much they had loved their caravan upbringing until they had set out on their own. The stars overhead, late night chattering of the house elf troupe, the busy weekends working a market stall, it was the little things that made the mash up of wix and beings that made the place feel like home. Sadly, the morning’s headline did not agree with Lavender.
Stay Home! Scoundrels Abound Beyond Your Door!
But Lavender simply gave a roll of their eyes and dropped the paper on the kitchen table. The headline changed again.
Idiot
“Fear monger” Came Lavender’s muttered reply.
There had been an uptick in messages of doom and gloom this week from the headlines meant only for Lavender’s eyes. But after spending a timid couple of days peering down every dark alley and finding no lurking danger Lavender had tried their best to brush off their worry.

The caravan market was bustling by the time Lavender arrived. Their nose filled with the familiar scents of kettle corn, dust, and manure. With these sensations came the warm comfort of a home they no longer called their own. Lavender was a visitor here, but nevertheless, they walked the makeshift aisles of the market with a nod of greeting to those they knew from before.
There was not much extra money in Lavender’s pocket to spend, but they flipped through a book on the zodiac with interest. This was a safe place, a place of peace, this was the last place Lavender had expected to find a warning.
RUN! NOW! RUN!
A sense of alarm rushed over Lavender’s body, and they looked back up at the vendor before them where the panic in Lavender’s eyes was not mirrored. “Run. Run now before they come.” Lavender whispered, the words coming unbidden to their lips before they turned to look for the impending... something.
A flash. A bang. The world went silent as Lavender was thrown to the ground.
Ears ringing, Lavender watched the pandemonium that unfolded from where they lay. Throngs of people rushed in every direction, it seemed no one knew where to go, or even what had happened. There was a large gash on the side of lavender’s face cutting from forehead to ear. Lavender tried to push themself up, but cried out with the movement, their leg pinned under a collapsed stall.
“Help! Help me!”
