TRICK!!!! Mwahahaha!! Have a meme recently saved to my phone!
trick or treat!! 🖤
Welcome! You get TREAT!
I don’t think I’ve ever talked about this, even to my friends, but I’m a synesthete. (Maybe i could have mentioned that on the fun facts list, huh?) On top of the color-to-days of the week, numbers etc. I also have a form of chromestesia that is between not just simply color and sounds, but specifically colors and music. (Individual sounds don’t always trigger it, somehow.) It’s a part of my practice inasmuch as I rarely do trance work without the infusion of music. I never really thought of utilizing this skill in divination (I wouldn’t have known how) until someone offered me shufflemancy recently and I remembered, oh, shufflemancy is a thing. Right.
I thought I would try it myself, how about that?
I shuffled my Discover Weekly on Spotify (it’s a list of 30 songs that I have never heard before but Spotify thinks I would like. For those who don’t use Spotify.)
And your song iiiiis… *drumroll*
Ghosts / The Dead Deads / Sketches and Animation
Would you look at that! How perfectly seasonal 👻
I’m digging this song quite a lot. It’s gritty and cheeky, but makes a point without being overly complicated. Overdriven guitars are my weakness, and the voice of the singer is nicely contrasted by them. She has a voice that makes me think of chalky pastel colors sliding across a pavement. On a first listen the visuals in my mind are usually very chaotic, abstract, it’s not very easy to describe them… but I’m perceiving a fairly large, but confined black space, that bright, fun and warm jewel tones, especially oranges and bright pinks, fall into in wide streaks.

The message seems to be so crystal clear and blatant here that I started to wonder whether like the narrator, the song itself is not as straightforward as it seems? But what is it hiding? The tune doesn’t give me any new information - it interacts with the theme perfectly, doesn’t allow the punkish, cheerful facade to slip, only a few slightly more sinister chords make it past the faked exterior. Have you been doing the same thing? Pretending you’re fine, crumbling yourself away as you try to intentionally get lost in the details, just so you don’t have to focus on the real problem.
It may resonate with you, or may not. My intuition is staying kinda quiet on the matter, but it gives me this: what if the song is not about you? Maybe there is somebody in your life who is not doing as well as they seem to. Do you maybe have a friend who’s coping with their problems just a little too well? It could be just a mask to hide a need for help they are too afraid to ask. Especially look out for your loved ones this season.
I hope this is helpful in some way. Happy Halloween! 🎃
