The valkyrie is a hard-hitting, fast-paced melee fighter perfectly matched to TERA’s action combat style. And as part of her introduction, we’ve got some cool new events through the end of April planned to help us celebrate.

For starters, we’re sending you a free character slot to get things going. After maintenance on April 11 until April 30, log in to the server you want to make a valkyrie on and check your item claim. There will be a character slot item there for you to use. Don’t worry if you’re max out; with this update we’re raising the maximum number of characters per server to 17.

If you advance your first valkyrie to level 2 by April 30, you’ll receive a Valkyrie Rewards Box with some very useful items:

a 15-day dragon pet (Argette) with the ability to auto-loot

an everful nostrum to help you in combat

a level 15 valkyrie reward box

That reward box is full of awesomeness, because when you open it at level 15, you get even more useful items, and a level 20 valkyrie reward box that works exactly the same way! Each box contains another valkyrie-specific or themed item, more cool consumables, mounts, and more, until you get to the grand jackpot at level 65:

Blessed Enigmatic Scroll

Intricate Identification scroll × 92

And for the hardest of hard-core levelers, we’ve got some achievements only available for players who reach specific levels with their valkyries in the first 24 hours after the update.

More details will be posted on April 4 along with the official Valkyrie class page (which will also announce the class release date), but since so many players have been asking about character slots we wanted to let you know what to expect. When Valkyrie releases, the maximum number of character slots will increase from 16 to 17 per server. For a lot of players out there, this is a big deal because they've already maxed out their character list on their favorite server, and this will mean they don't have to delete one of their characters (or swap to a new server) to make room for their new Valkyrie. There's also some good news for every TERA player that logs in after the Valkyrie release. Each account will get a single Character Slot voucher delivered to their Item Claim for free. If you're full up on characters, make sure you claim it on the server you want the extra slot on to make room for your Valkyrie. Brief summary:

New Class

- Added a new DPS melee class: the valkyrie.         

Wears light armor.

Wields a runeglaive.

Castanic female only.

Open World

- Increased difficulty of monsters.

- Enraged boss monsters benefit from increased Attack and Attack Speed.

Adjusted AI of dracoloths and Halvaroggh to reduce the flying/digging attack patterns.

Missives drop Ferris Fragments and have a low chance of dropping a crimson or iron dragon mount.

Collect 40 Ferris Fragments and receive Flying Skill: Iron Dragon.

Miscellaneous

- Vanguard Requests rewards:    

Crystal boxes now award more class-specific crystals. 

Some requests provide appropriate level tokens.

- Leveling tokens         

Added tokens for levels 22, 27, 34, 38, 44, 50, 55, 58, 60, and 63. 

Adjusted token store contents.

After reaching level 58, you can use tokens to get uncommon glyphs.

- Adjusted the level requirements for some crystals.

- Crystal merchants now sell uncommon crystals instead of common ones.

Daily quest rewards have been adjusted so that a chest or token is awarded instead of various crystals to allow for a more appropriate selection of crystals.

Level 12 Avatar weapons weakened by approx. 10%

Adjusted contents of various token shops for level 22-55 gear

Dragonwing Scale

The system through which flying dragons can be received has been adjusted.

New Items:

Dragon Scrolls can be used to obtain a Piece of Dragon Scroll. Additionally, there's also a small chance to get a flying dragon.

Pieces of Dragon Scroll can be transformed into a flying dragon without fail at a ratio of 40 to 1.

Changes to Existing Items:

Dragonwing Scales can be transformed into a Dragon Scroll at a ratio of 10 to 1.

Dragonwing Talons can be transformed into 5 Pieces of Dragon Scroll.

Petrified Dragon Eggs can be transformed into 5 Pieces of Dragon Scroll.

Mysterious Dragon Eggs can be transformed into a flying dragon without fail.

Fashion Coupons

New weapons and armor added for the Valkyrie

Monster Changes

Adjusted many opponents in all areas of Arborea to make them more difficult and less frustrating. Amongst other things, the changes include the following:

HP and experience points increase more depending on the level of the opponent

Adjusted various stats (Blocking, Attack, Resistances) as well as the dropping of HP and MP projectiles

Reduced the frequency of dragon BAMs flying up high and striking from above

Reduced the frequency of worm BAMs burrowing and striking from below
