"Children are prone to messiness. They just… are. Tidiness and orderliness aren’t innate to children. If you can’t handle a messy house, you can’t handle having children." what abt parents with OCD or other compulsion based illnesses?? i dont think its fair to make such an absolute assumption
Then they probably shouldn’t be parents until it’s managed. I lived with this kind of adult authority figure, and it’s traumatized me. I may have been unclear in my original post; a problem only arises when parents/adult authority figures vent their anxiety, frustration, discomfort, distress, etc. onto the messy child or when they demand perfect orderliness from children (which is, most of the time, impossible).
Speaking as a Scarily Mentally Ill Person, we shouldn’t have children until we’re at a place where our illness is controlled and our emotions are stable. A child’s right not to be traumatized by exposure to symptoms of mental illness supersedes an adult’s right to be a parent.
