The crown chakra is the seventh chakra and it is at the top of the "chakra ladder". This chakra  is located at the crown of the head. The gift of this chakra is experiencing unity and the selfless realization that everything is connected at a fundamental level.  The challenge of this chakra is to liberate the spirit - open to the divine - and at the same time stay firmly rooted deep in the ground.  It is the meeting point between finite (the body and the ego) and infinite (the universe and soul).   There is no intellectual knowing at the level of seventh chakra, but there is serenity, joy, and deep peace about life. You have a sense of knowing that there is a deeper meaning of life and that there is an order that underlies all of existence.

When the crown chakra is our of harmony 

We feel totally disconnected from the Divine/ Source/ Universe/God/dess, we may have anger at god, we have difficulty trusting our path or our lives in general, we feel depressed, alone, unsatisfied with life, unable to let go of anxiety and fear 

When the crown chakra is in harmony 

We live in the knowledge of Unity- the idea that we are all connected, we understand that we are individual reflections of the Divine, trust that we are connected to the Divine, and understand that our individual identity goes beyond the physical form

Sanskrit name - Sahasrara 

Location - At the top of and center of the head 

Color - Purple, white, gold 

Element - Thought 

Affirmation - “I know” 

Physical body parts - Muscular system, skeletal system, skin, cerebral cortex, central nervous system 

Life lesson - To experience the divine meaning of live 

Physical dysfunction - Energetic disorders, depression, chronic exhaustion that is not linked to physical disorder, extreme sensitivity to light/sounds/ other environmental factors, confusion, apathy

Mental/ emotional issues - Ability to trust life, values, ethics, courage, selflessness, ability to see the larger pattern or picture, faith, inspiration, devotion 

Possible causes of energy blocks - Lack of trust in the Divine or life, unresolved anger toward the Divine

The Throat Chakra is the fifth chakra and it is the first of the higher or spiritual chakras on the "chakra ladder". This chakra is located in the region of neck and shoulders. The gift of this chakra is accepting your originality, expressing your authentic voice and speaking your truth.  The energy of this chakra allows you to seek knowledge that is true, beyond limitations of time and space, beyond cultural and family conditioning.  As a communication center, it not only allows you to express who you are and what you stand for, but also allows you to listen deeply to another. 

When the throat chakra is out of harmony 

We have difficulty speaking our truth or expressing ourselves, feel silenced and judged for what we say, feel our of alignment with who we are, and we feel out of touch with our will to live

When the throat chakra is in harmony 

Our will to live is strong, we are able to follow our dreams, we speak our truth - we say what we mean and we mean what we say, we express ourselves easily, creatively and authentically, listen to our own inner voice and have a balance between silence and speech 

Sanskrit name - Vishuddha 

Location - A the front of the base of the neck, at the hollow of the collarbone 

Color - Light blue 

Element - Sound 

Affirmation - “I speak”

Physical body parts - Throat, neck vertebrae, mouth, teeth and gums, shoulders, arms, hands, esophagus 

Life lesson - To speak and receive the Truth

The heart chakra, is located in the center of the chest, at heart level.  It is the center of your deep bonds with other beings, your sense of caring and compassion, your feelings of self-love, altruism, generosity, kindness, and respect. The "way of the heart" or the "path of the heart" is living your life from this energy center of love. It means living your life with loving kindness and compassion towards others. It means that your heart is open to others and you inspire kindness and compassion in others. You create safe and supportive environment. This chakra holds out connection to both the physical and the spiritual aspects of ourselves. It is how we get in touch with our Higher Self in relation to the rest of the world and the Universe. 

When the heart chakra is out of harmony 

We are disconnected from ourselves, have difficulty loving ourselves or giving love from a genuine place, do not feel deserving of love and have difficulty receiving love, develop depression from a lack of connection to self.

When the heart chakra is in harmony 

We are fully connected to ourselves, cultivate joy easily, love and accept ourselves and others, give and receive love genuinely, cultivate compassion for self and others

Life lesson - to experience compassion and connection with oneself and others 

Physical dysfunction - Congestive heart failure, heart attack, heart disease, asthma, allergies, lung cancer, pneumonia, lung disease, breast cancer, high blood pressure 

Mental/ emotional issues - Love and hatred, resentment, grief, self-centeredness, loneliness, forgiveness, compassion, hope, trust

Possible causes of energy blocks - Repressed heartache or grief

The sixth chakra, The Third Eye Chakra, is associated with our ‘sixth sense’ ; it is the center of our wisdom, spiritual insight, and intuition.  It is located in the brain, at the brow, above the base of the nose. The energy of this chakra allows us to experience clear thoughts  as well as gifts of spiritual contemplation and self reflection. The energy from this chakra allows us to access our inner guidance that comes from the depth of our being.  It allows us to cut through illusion and to access deeper truths - to see beyond the mind, beyond the words. The way o the third eye is seeing everything as it is - being mindful, moment by moment.  It means examining self-limiting ideas and developing wisdom that comes from a perspective that transcends the duality of good or bad, black or white. 

When the third eye chakra is out of harmony 

We focus only on our intellect and reject all spiritual aspects of ourselves, we do not trust our intuition, we are only able to see the physical reality in life, and carry a lot of fear in regard to our inner wisdom

When the third eye chakra is in harmony 

We invite our intuition and awareness into everyday aspects, we trust our inner vision and act upon what our intuition tells us, we have a deep knowing beyond what we can physically see, in touch with our clairvoyance

What are Chakras? 

Whether you are studying Chakras or something else, you come to learn that everything is energy, with it’s own vibrational frequency. From our most basic atoms that create our cells, organs, bones, muscles, and bodily systems to the expansive planet and the solar system, everything is made up of energy. 

The energy body is the human energy field that extends beyond the physical body. Your physical body consists of many layers- nervous system, muscular and skeletal system- with intricate, overlapping functions, your energy body also consists of many interacting layers. Like your physical body, each layer serves a specific purpose and the layers work together as one. Together, the layers of your energy body are called your aura. Your aura interacts with your physical body as well as your energy centers, or chakras. 

A chakra is an energy center. In a perfectly healthy person, the 7 chakras work in unison to create life force energy. The body, mind, and spirit benefit from balanced chakras. Each chakra has its own symbol, color, meaning, and corresponds to a specific area of the body.

The term “Chakra” is also Sanskrit for wheel. This refers to the spinning, spherical energy center that makes up a chakra. That energy is known as “prana”. “Pranayama” means breath control.

The chakra points make up a straight line starting at the bottom of your spine and end at the crown of your head. There are 7 chakras in total: The Root Chakra, The Sacral Chakra, The Solar Plexus Chakra, The Heart Chakra, The Throat Chakra, The Third Eye Charka and the Crown Chakra.

When we connect with the energy within our chakras, we connect with ourselves more fully, and learn how to heal ourselves on all levels, creating true holistic healing. This is why mindfulness-based practices, such as mediation, help connect the mind with the body and spirit, why certain physical activities can help clear your head and feel more centered, and why cultivating your spirit heals your body and mind. It is all connected. 

Feel your energy- Practice 1: 

To get in touch with your energy, hold your hands one inch apart, palms facing each other. Get familiar with the warmth and energy exchange between your hands (hands contain minor chakras). Separate your hands slightly, stretching out the energy between your palms. Then bring them closer together again, condensing your energy. Repeat this a few times, playing with the energy between your palms. If you don’t feel anything at first, just relax and clear your mind, practice and remain open and in tune to receiving. 

As you become familiar with the energy, you will notice the warmth of your hands, and a slight energy charge between them. 

You can feel your major chakras too. To feel your heart chakra, place both hands at the center of your chest. Take a slow and steady breath through your nose. Feel the warmth and inner glow under your hands. 

Remember, if you don’t feel it at first, clear your mind, focus and keep practicing.

Ways To Work With The Chakras

Meditation and visualization 

- Meditation is a form of mental exercise that trains the mind to stay focused. 

- It’s purpose is to help calm and clear mental chatter. It can help transform consciousness in ways that promote inner peace, mental clarity, emotional positivity, deep knowing and concentration. By maintaining a specific focus, like a breath, the mind can stop wandering. Meditation also includes cvisulizations where you create mental images toward your purpose. 

- There are many ways to meditate; sitting or laying and focusing on your breath or a specific object, or you can focus on an activity such as walking, art, music or writing

Yoga 

- Yoga is a series of physical postures and breathing exercises aimed to strengthen us physically, mentally and spiritually 

- Yoga provides physical strength and stamina, designed to create awareness and connection with the body through movement

- Through physical exercises and breath, we connect the mind with the body. We move the body into different poses for a set period of time, at the same time we control our breathing in different ways, helping energy circulate throughout the body and cultivating mindfulness

Crystals

- Crystals are used to draw out or redirect energy as well as develop the strengths associated with the specific stone. They are used to rebalance and heal. 

- Crystals help us engage with the natural Earth energy to nourish our strengths and gifts. They help us release what no longer serves us, tap into our gifts, restore balance, heal and elevate our consciousness

- Keep a crystal on your person, wear a crystal as a necklace, lie comfortably and place chakra crystals on your chakra points, hold crystals in your left hand ( receiving hand) during meditation so you can receive the healing vibrations of the crystal 

Maintain Balance 

-Regularly cultivate mindfulness and practice gratefulness to keep yourself in the present moment

- Maintain your energy through movement - yoga, walking

- Bless with sacred white sage to clear away any negativity or unwanted energy 

- Take a bath with Epsom salts to clear away any energy you have have picked up that isn't yours or wanted, it also helps relieve aches and pains
