Snug Leakproof Bento Lunchbox
This review is for the Snug Leakproof Bento Lunchbox. You can find it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Snug-Leakproof-Bento-Container-Adults/dp/B01B2VL13U It costs $15.99 right now on Amazon.
With having to feed hubby homemade goodness everyday for lunch. We needed something easier than the cheap big box reusable dishes. He was easily taking 2-5 different containers with him to work, completely filling up his cooler, not leaving room for his insulin. Needless to say, I needed to make a change there as well.
Enter this lunchbox. I’ll start with what I didn’t care for about this:
It isn’t microwave safe. I went through the description several times after getting it to see if it was, and had to depend on the reviews to find out it wasn’t microwave safe. I didn’t try it in the microwave to see if it would melt or blow up but since it is not listed in the description and others have stated it isn’t, I’m going to assume.
The food slots are awkward. They have weird angles, which makes hand cleaning hard. They are also smaller than what you would expect. Unless you have weird bread you cut in 2 parts, you aren’t fitting a sandwich in there. The big slots are good for a single serving of say enchiladas.
It isn’t insulated. This is more of an annoyance, than anything. The clear tray does come out, which can allow you to put an ice pack in the bottom, so you can keep cold food cold. But your hot foods, sorry charlie.
What I do like (I know sounds like I don’t like anything): Since it isn’t microwave safe, the little circle in the middle is perfect for sour cream, sauce to whatever you want/need to keep separate.
I do like that the clear tray can come out and you can insert an ice pack to keep items cold.
It is dishwasher safe. So at least for me cleaning out those weird angles isn’t an issue, but if hand washing, it would be a pain.
It is leakproof and spill proof. I put colored water in each of the slots, closed it and turned it upside down, and then opened it. There was a little intermixing of the colors but not bad at all. I would put some bread and green beans in the same container and not freakout because green bean juice got on my bread (major pet peeve). I then took it and shook the heck out of it, and looked for any signs of leaking and there was none. So being in a backpack or cooler I feel that it would be safe.
The closures are VERY easy to open and close, yet they are strong. A child or someone with arthritis could easily open and close this with no problems. They do have a slight cheap feel but I have yet to weaken them at all, and I’ve been rather abusive towards it.
Would I buy another one, probably not, because of the need to microwave hubby’s lunches, but outside of that, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I would give it a solid 4 stars.
I did receive this for a discount in exchange for my honest review.
