finally watching the overwatch spotlight. i'm actually so fucking excited for the new creative direction of of the game, speaking as someone who cares a lot about the lore and loves learning about it. after the story missions kinda fell through, it felt like a drought with where anything was going—and while i could definitely tell there was still a narrative going on, it felt very hidden... very shunned off for a while.
but the new season system looks so cool already. i think it's clever that they went for the approach of several seasons being under one whole story arc with unfolding lore accompanying it. and then when that ends, the next arc resets back to a whole new season 1. that makes me feel insane... like in a good way that i can't explain LMAO. that said, i do hope their plan brings the narrative back onto the stage, not let it sit in the background.
and a whole FIVE new heroes slated for next week?? jesus christ?? i was in class thinking they were gonna be released throughout the year like their normal schedule, but no holy shit??? FIVE NEW HEROES AT ONCE. good lordy....
i think most of us also felt it coming with the dropping of "2" from the title. with how storytelling pve failed to work out, the vision for the game since then felt very misaligned. because to me, overwatch is like a single, evolving universe (even if it took a while to get to that point lets be fr LMAO)—and not a sequel to replace another game. i'm glad that the team got to the point of realizing that with its refreshed direction 😭
i'm so excited... good lordy
