ngl I'm not sure if it's an unpopular opinion or not, but I'm really glad the movie universe finally gave Sonic a (found) family with parental figures after not seeing it since the Sonic Underground/Archie/SatAM/etc days. tired of all these orphan furries lmaoo
misc thoughts/spoiler territory/predictions below the cut:
I love Rachel. SO MUCH. She takes no shit whatsoever.
lost my mind over seeing the red biplane hell yeah
"Chaos is power." (Power enriched by the heart.)
THAT FLEETWAY SUPER SONIC REFERENCE NEARLY HAD ME GASPING, AY-FUCKING-YOOOOO
Knux picking up Tails at the end and putting him on his shoulder like WHOOF THERE GOES MY HEART
I knew about the Mean Bean store since they started shooting the set but let's be real, Stone and Eggman is the greatest/weirdest ship in this universe.
SHADOW SHADOW SHADOW SHADOW SHADOW SHADOW SH-
I can't wait to see their family dynamics and how Tom and Maddie handle them, we got:
ADHD child
Brainy child (guarantee Tails gets into more trouble than Sonic)
Pure of heart, dumb of ass child (I say this with only love in my heart for Knuckles)
They are in for Hell (affectionate) trying to contain their new weird superpowered sons.
And I am GLAD it seems like for once Knux is going to be hanging around instead of being the loner type he's usually cast as (at least for the moment, considering the spin-off he's supposed to be getting I think?) because I know exactly who's going to fill that role in the next movie.
I feel at the end Shadow will either be taken in by GUN as one of their agents, or loosely adopted (maybe by Tom and Maddie [all these dang SONS], maybe by someone else) but he does his own thing 99% of the time. He's absolutely going to survive a "heroic sacrifice" moment like he had in SA2 since it's a kid's movie series.
(As you can tell I'm much more excited to see an SA2 plot than an SA1 plot, sorry not sorry but I just enjoyed SA2 more as a child despite playing the hell out of both games on Gamecube)
Please tell me we get Amy and Rouge. Somehow. I know we probably won't but Amy was a key player in SA2 and I adore Rouge and Shadow's dynamics from SA2 onwards.
imagine if Maria survived the events that led up to Shadow being put on ice (cannot WAIT to see if they go for the Space Colony Ark and Biolizard), but is now old and he meets her again at some point
Just as the seasons change, so can a person’s life. You think you have everything together, that it all finally makes sense, that every piece of the puzzle is there. And then it all drastically changes. Life turns upside down and every bit of normal goes out the window. Almost like entering a whole new world. Most stories take place in an enchanted forest, or a fairytale castle of some sorts. And, technically, this one does. Somewhat. But first this story begins in a different place, a little bit more absurd of a starting spot for a story. A corn maze.
Of all the volunteers, it had to be me who was put on lost kid duty. Almost every year, some kid gets lost in the annual Fall Fest corn maze. And honestly, I wouldn’t blame them. Every year, it feels like the corn maze just gets bigger and bigger. I take a deep breath and step into the maze. Tall stalks of corn surround my every side. The further I walk, the deeper I go. The deeper I go, the darker it gets. Twists and turns, lefts and rights, dead ends and narrow paths make this place into a labyrinth. I’m lost. It’s ironic, really.
High corn stalks change to wood and bark. Ears of corn change to colorful autumn leaves. A soft, cool breeze ruffles my hair… Wait—what? A forest? How did I get here? I was just in the corn maze moments ago… I wander through these woods, feeling more led astray than I ever was. I get an eerie feeling here. I look behind me. Nothing but trees. In front of me. More trees. To both sides. Still trees. All sense of direction has left me. I keep trudging forward.
Something comes into view on the horizon. I can’t make it out just yet. But it’s huge. As I walk closer, I can finally make out details.. It's the ruins of a building of some sort. No, not a building exactly. A castle. It looks ancient, the way its crumbling stone bricks are weathered by the elements, and the way ivy grasps at the walls. I can tell no one has been here for decades, maybe even centuries. I run my fingers across the decaying structure. I wonder what stories lie behind each stone. I walk around its perimeter.
One of the sides is different from the rest, with a large arch carved into the wall. This must be the entrance. Before my foot can even cross the threshold, a large crow swoops down at me, causing me to stumble backwards a bit. The crow hops towards the doorway, and the most impossible and unexpected thing happens: The crow talks. “Whoa, whoa! Step away from my castle, human!” I am utterly speechless. The bird can talk!
This day couldn’t get weirder. The crow then shapeshifts into a person. I spoke too soon. I stand there gawking. He’s a boy, in his teenage years like I am, with shaggy black curls that tickle the nape of his neck, fair pale skin, dark eyes like onyx, sharp features, and wears a peculiar black cloak, made entirely of sleek black feathers. I was completely wrong. This day could get weirder. The boy straightens up from his crouching position and dusts himself off. “Been a while since a human’s been in these woods.” He comments, looking me up and down. I finally find my voice. “I’m sorry but who… what exactly are you?” “The name’s Arlo,” He says with a bit too much confidence, gesturing to himself with his thumb. “This neck of the woods belongs to me.” He adds with a cocky smirk. “What’s a human girl like you doing here, anyway?” He cocks his head to the side, raising a brow. “I’m not even exactly sure how I got here, honestly. I’m lost.” I say, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly. “Well clearly.” He remarks. I scowl. “Do you know a way I can get back home?” “No, I don’t–” “That’s real helpful–” “–but I do know someone who can.” “That’s great! Where can I find–” Arlo cuts me off again. “It’s not exactly an easy journey. And the Winter King isn’t exactly an easy person to bargain with.” “I’ll do whatever it takes. I just want to get out of this place and go home.” He looks at me again for a second, as if contemplating his next words. Then he sighs. “Are you really sure about this? It’s risky. And there’s consequences.” “Yes, I am.” I say firmly. “Then follow me.”
