Hi so I just started reading Paint Our Bodies and Chase the Sky and I don't understand why Tyler's mom has a bad reaction to him being a wolf. My understanding is wolves are born so shouldn't she know he had no choice.
Ha, if only prejudice were that logical! She’s probably upset for lots of not-very-logical reasons:
She thinks he’s going to be less happy as an openly acknowledged wolf than as someone who was suppressing that part of himself
She feels like Tyler went through life up to this point not knowing he was a wolf or acting on it, and he could have gone on doing that (and been happier for it) if it hadn’t been for these new teammates being a bad influence
She feels guilty for her part in passing on the wolf genetics, and she’s responding to that guilt by trying to make it not true
It’s all really crappy behavior that elides the reality of the situation (that Tyler will never be happy suppressing his wolf nature) as a result of her own fear and guilt. Some of those fears are based at least partly in love -- she does have legit reason to think he’ll face prejudice from the world now that he’s out as a wolf -- but none of them result in love action toward Tyler, and a good parental response to this kind of thing is always going to involve acknowledging the kid’s reality first and trying to support them in whatever they need. Sadly, not every parent is going to deliver a good response. 😔

What is the average Piltover mode of transportation like?
inter-city travel is usually done by airship or boat, depending on the location. this is how trade is done, as well, though more by boat than airship, as a boat can hold more. as for getting around the city, car && bus are typical. the underground transport was under construction until crime reached an all time high, resulting in a halt for the construction due to the fact that criminals would hide out in the tunnels && put the workers in danger. now that crime is at a low, construction has resumed but is not completed.
