Luq, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, S02 E04: Among the Lotus Eaters (2023)
I love every little thing about this scene. The words, the gestures, the sentiment. This is such a heartwrenchingly perfect moment of melancholy.
I admit though that a part of me would have like to not see any further conclusion of Luq's story. Albeit I see the power and meaning in his change of mind, and therefore can accept this decision to grant an end to his arc.
Side note: I'm also still quite fascinated by how much of a rollercoaster this show is. Like, last episode was Time Travel Fun With Jim Kirk In Ontario, while next episode will be Let's Make Spock Fully Human And Force Him To Endure His (Hopefully!) Soon-to-Be In-Laws. While here there's this story about the core of everyone's personality and how you deal with complicated grief in the highest order, all wrapped into a simple The Planet Makes Us Forget Stuff plot.
This all is just a wild mix of genres. This show has everything, I guess (for better or worse).
