I'm not in psych fandom/don't write for it but you're my fave moot who is so dumping this on you: has anyone considered the merits of closeted trans fem carlton lassiter getting clocked IMMEDIATELY by shawn and him basically chewing his own leg off to not accidentally spook her before she's ready to accept herself and come out, while aggressively being pro trans to try and create a safe space for her at work, and also subtly encouraging her to explore her feminine side in a way that's borderline force fem like contriving elaborate scenarios and shenanigans where she HAS to put on a dress and wig and making sure that EVERYONE is polite and complimentary instead of decisive or mocking. like so much "oh lassie you're so pretty as a girl you should dress up as one more often, just saying" and "your makeup looks SO good lassie you're look amazing like this" and lassie fully having an existential crisis because shawn can't know, she barely knows herself, and she's convinced shawn is mocking her with every compliment

Just Lassie slowly going insane trying to figure out Shawn's angle. Like, why is he doing this? What is he getting out of this? What's his plan to use this against me? Meanwhile Shawn is just buzzing out of his skin keeping his trap shut because holy shit LASSIE dressed up and beautiful and finally comfortable in her own skin is so sexy he might die but he's not allowed to say anything. And Gus is standing beside him holding him upright so he doesn't melt into the floor. Eventually he and Jules catch on and get on board, and good thing too because the longer it goes on the more Shawn starts slipping because he's becoming increasingly desperate for her to stop fighting herself.
