canon compliant lurthur, hand-picked from mine and @sugarsnappeases lurthur moodboard
anyone else ever think about lurthur…… it’s a decades long affair. miserable and beautiful. and it’s set in canon. lucy being a closeted trans woman and arthur being the cool hipster stoner type guy. sort of a mix between both charlie and bill. i see him as wearing the leather jacket and a cigarette behind his ear, but obsessed with nature and herbology and care of magical creatures. secret relationship at hogwarts-type vibes where arthur waits for lucius after curfew looking like danny from grease. lucy tucking her hair behind her ear and all shy smiles. lucius being super tall and who’s always looked androgynous. who never cut her hair, even when she became the ’man of the house’ and had to marry narcissa and produce an heir. lucy who’s a coward and wears the costume of a man as something uncomfortable and ill fitting. lucy who marries narcissa who’s basically the woman she dreams to be. who she’s so desperate to be. lucy and arthur who can’t stay away from each other even though they’re both married. their offices at the ministry are so close to each other and they’re pulled toward each other like moths to a flame. lucy who doesn’t communicate. lucy the hopeless romantic. lucy who loves being arthur’s mistress. arthur who doesn’t, can’t, love molly like he loves lucy. arthur who doesn’t even put up a fight. arthur who doesn’t even try to deny it to himself. arthur who eventually has bill and he swears, SWEARS, lucy will still be his girl. only, having a child changes him. changes everything. arthur who loves his children more than he loves lucy, but loves lucy more than he loves molly. arthur who ends their affair once and for all because becoming a father changed him. lucy who eventually has draco and doesn’t feel the same. who can’t connect with her son. narcissa’s maternal instincts kicking in immediately and lucy resenting her for it. hates that she’s not fit to be a man and not able to be a mother. lucy who genuinely thinks arthur was made for him. arthur who doesn’t feel a lucy shaped void when he’s with his children, but he does at night in bed with his wife. lucy who desperately wants to be arthurs wife. and arthur who always, since hogwarts, wanted to be lucys husband…………..
arthur weasley, archeology student & slag. lucius malfoy, PPE student & repressed. they meet at a uni party and spend the whole night together, until lucius goes home with narcissa and arthur goes home with a poor substitute for lucius. they don’t see each other after that but they can’t stop thinking about That Night. so lucius, slytherin, plots a way for them to end up in the same room again. she finds out arthur frequents a uni society called ’beer and bicker’. arthur doesn’t really like bickering, but he likes a hot headed woman and beer. lucy tells herself (and arthur) she’s there because it’s good training for when she becomes a politician. they exchange numbers. they start texting constantly. lucy wont sleep with arthur, but she will torture him. arthur, harlot, sends lucy a text to make her jealous *picture* hey, u left ur knickers at my place. oh sorry, wrong person, innit. lucy texts back *picture of just the hem of the knickers she’s wearing* i’m already wearing mine, thank you though. <- arthur’s plan to make lucy jealous backfires so brilliantly and he walks into a pole on campus. it goes on for months, texting and spending time together, tension building until it snaps and they spend the night together in a spur of a moment type thing. lucy sneaks out the morning after, arthur doesn’t know why. she doesn’t want to be one of his girls :/ she wants to be His Girl… it’s okay though, they figure it out…. 🤍 - brought to you by sugarquill jenkara enterprises (@sugarsnappeases)
It’s fatal, what he feels for Lucius, and no one knows. No one knows that she’s here for him, and no one knows how his heart expands, doubles in size and threatens to break free from his chest just to get to her.
or,
arthur is a sailor, lucius is the repressed heir of the malfoy manor.
what do you think about ludora (lucius x pandora)?
i haven’t really considered them, sorry!! i’ve seen a few of saints posts where they’ve been tagging them and i’m intrigued!! but i don’t know any lore about them other than that, so i dont really have thoughts:/
however. i am very big on lurthur (lucius/arthur) which is genuinely the only thing that’s been on my mind for days now. so let me take this opportunity to talk about my (and @sugarsnappeases ) lucius <3
my lucius is transfemme but doesn’t ever come out. she does present as sort of androgynous, but in a way that she gets away with it. she’s tall and well respected, but she has her long hair and she’s sooooo pretty. she yearns for everything bellatrix despises. they’re absolut polar opposites to me. lucius wants to be a fragile woman, someones wife, more than anything. she’s a coward bad at being a father and worse at being a husband and she’s just bad at being a man. she yearns for womanhood. to me. but will never live as one.
except for! with arthur. they’re secretely dating at hogwarts. arthur was a mix of bill and charlie back at school. he was a soft punk leftist stoner type guy. and they’re just drawn to each other and start having this secret affair behind closed doors. arthur wears his leather jacket and tells lucius that she’s so pretty. such a pretty thing. braids her hair and touches her gently. like lucius has always longed for. however! they dont communicate. lucius never actually tells arthur her deepest desires about being a woman. never tells arthur how badly she wants to be his wife. arthur treats her like this because he knows her better than anyone, but lucius never lets him all the way in. so arthur knows lucius wants to be treated gently, wants to be called pretty, wants to bat her eyelashes at him and wear pretty things. and thats enough for lucius. its as good as its going to get. they’re always doomed because lucius has to marry a woman and produce an heir. its her only duty.
they break up eventually and both of them get married. athur marries molly, which is ALSO lucius’ opposite. everything she’ll never be. she’s funny, happy go lucky, charming, pleasant— and a woman. lucius is tall, bony, lanky, unpleasant, a downright cunt— and not (percieved as) a woman. she hates molly with a passion. she’s resentful and jealous and downright nasty whenever molly visits arthur at work. because arthur and lucius both work at the ministry <3
lucius marries narcissa. narcissa who’s so similar to lucius. according to me and @sugarsnappeases. they’re both quiet, prefers being in the background, scared, timid. lucius is essentially marrying the woman he so desperately wants to be. which is so interesting in contrast to narcissas own self hatred about her position. like yeah there’s probably a small pool of pureblood witches she’s allowed to choose from, but she’s still percieved as a man and has the choice. and she picks narcissa because it’s the version of herself that’s allowed to be a woman. it’s an okay marriage at first. they sort of understand each other. but it turns more and more sour the older lucius gets, the more she pushes down her own womanhood. she resents narcissa just for being allowed to be her wife.
the affair with arthur continues because neither of them can stop. it continues for years! years!!!! and they’re still not really communicating. lucius has this entire one sided version of their affair where she’s arthurs mistress. she makes sure they’re always messing around in arthurs office because lucius wants to feel like the wife/mistress coming to seduce their husband at work. but she never actually outright tells arthur all of thus. again, arthur knows her better than anyone and makes lucius feel like herself in ways no ever has, but never completely. never fully. arthur doesn’t know about how lucius yearns to be his wife. his girl. he asks arthus to tell her she’s prettier than molly. and arthur does. always. lucius asks him to tell her shes prettier than narcissa. and arthur does. tells lucius she’s the prettiest thing he’s ever seen. lucius will dress up for arthur, wear womens underwear, silk anything, do her hair and arthur will treat her gently and worship her
so like. lucius never gets to live as a woman but she gets (almost) everything she wants from this affair with arthur. because she has her own idea about what this affair is. in her head she really is arthurs good girl. she’s made it out in her head where she’s the woman of arthurs dream. AND SHE IS !!!!!! AND ARTHUR WOULD SAY SO !!!! IF THEY TALKED !!!!! BUT THEY DONT !!!!!!!
molly gets pregnant. its fine. arthur has lucy on his lap in some weird wizard motel and tells her it doesnt matter. i’ll never leave you. i cant leave you. i’ll be here. you’re my pretty star. i’m your man. it doesn’t have to change anything.
bill is born. it changes everything. arthur falls in love at firt sight. having a kid changed arthur wholeheartedly. he looks into that baby’s eyes and he decides there and then he’ll clean up his act. hes going to be a good husband and a good role model.
arthur loves his kids more than he loves lucy, but he loves lucy more than he loves molly. he spends his days with his kids (HIS MILLION KIDS) and its enough. it fills his heart and there’s no lucy shaped void. then he goes to bed with molly and that’s when lucy comes running back into his mind again.
so they break ut off. for real this time. and arthur doesn’t come back. he wont let himself. and lucius just. goes off the fucking deep end after this.
she finally produces an heir and hopes maybe she’ll understand. she’ll see her kid and feel what arthur feels. but draco is born and lucy doesn’t feel anything. but narcissa connects with draco immediately. and lucy hates her for it. hates her for her maternal instincts and is so jealous and resentful. arthur is gone and even tho arthur never knew the full truth, it was the closest thing lucy had. the closest thing she had to feeling like a woman (which. unhealthy. and isnt fair on arthur obviously. this is not a wholesome love story). now she’s fully and completely trapped being a well respected pureblood husband, statis, a father, there’s a war at the horizon. etc etc etc .
arthur and lucy almost relapse once. years and years later. after the first war. maybe even after ginny is born. lucy is in arthurs office. and theyve just been talking. and its getting intimate. and arthur knows its dangerous territory. and hes been avoiding this. but he just cant this time. and eventually they’re so close. their lips are only inches apart. and lucy says ’i’d leave it all for you, if you asked.” and that’s. ruins everything. arthur snaps out of it immediately.
BECAUSE WHAT LUCY MEANS IS I WANT TO BE YOUR WIFE. I WANT A SECOND CHANCE AND I WANT IT WITH YOU. BUT WHAT ARTHUS HEARS IS I WOULD LEAVE MY FAMILY WITHOUT THINKING TWICE. I’D ABANDON MY CHILD. AND THATS THE THING. THEY HAVENT EVER COMMUNICATED. ARTHUR DOESNT KNOW WHAT LUCIUS THINKS SHES OBVIOUSLY TELLING HIM. all arthur hears is that lucy would abandon her son. and arthur changed when he had children. and what lucy means is i did it all wrong and i regret it and i want to be your wife.
kara had this really interesting point about lucius and narcissa being very similar in that way of not communiacting. and in being hopeless (irrational) romantics. like. lucius thinks that arthur should just know. lucy is convinced that arthur is the love of her life. that they were made for each other. and arthur should just be able to know. be able to read between te lines. lucy thought she was being romantic when she said she’d leave everything behind for arthur. BUT THATS NOT WHAT ARTHUR HEARS .
anyway. yeah. lucius gets to feel like a woman twice in her life and it’s with arthur and bellatrix. you can read about her relationship with bellatrix here and here. which to me takes place during the first war, post arthur breaking it off with lucius. it’s unbelievably unhealthy and self destructive and not dynamics i endorse! but dynamics i find interesring nonetheless <3 also tw for pseudo incest i guss because lucy begs bella to tell her she’s prettier/better than narcissa and bella does <3 because she’s also fucked up !
hello i wanna listen to you yap so talk about your favorite (or least talked about your choice) rare pair ((:
omg lets get into the lurthur to bellucius timeline...... (mine and kara's baby, to no ones surprise...)
i've made a post about the lurthur backstory here, moodboard here and lurthur pinterest board here!!i've also made a vague post about bellucius here and here’s mine and kara’s bellucius pinterest board !!
these relationships both exist in the same universe (and it’s canon compliant) and they’re both deeply connected to lucius' repressed womanhood
pt. 1 lurthur
so, arthur finally officialy break things off with lucius when he has bill. arthur never really tried not to cheat, he knew that lucius was the love of his life and that he couldn't stay away, so he just didn't try. even if part of him hated lucy for choosing her family instead of him. THEY COULD'VE HAD IT ALL !! <- will never not be normal about the bone deep loyalty of the pureblood families. the arranged marriages. the sticking it out til the end because these are the cards you've been dealt. but they're also the cards you're choosing to keep. lucy is not immune to wanting power, fame and luxury. not immune to sacred 28 propaganda. she'll simply have to wait until the next life to be happy !
anyway, arthur breaks things off with lucy when he has bill because having his first son changes him. he falls in love with that little boy at first sight and decides then and there to change. he's going to be a good husband, a good father, and a good role model. he's going to be the perfect family man. he's able to fill the lucy shaped void when he's with his children, only for it to come back in full force when he lays in bed with his wife. <- this is also why he has so many children. to keep filling that void. because his children stop needing him as much when the grow older, so he just keeps having more and more children
lucius never properly comes out as a trans woman to arthur, and she never even properly explores her own womanhood so i'm not even sure that lucy fully understands herself that she's a woman, but arthur is the closest to understand. me and kara have talked time and time again about the similarities between lucy and narcissa, how they're repressed in similar ways but also how they're hopeless romantics in the same exact ways. <- which is why i think lucy picked narcissa to marry, because he sees so much of herself in her. she's the woman lucy will never be.
they're romantic in the type of unrealistic way where they think their intended should just be able to know. should be able to read their minds. and arthur is the one who got the closest, but lucy never lets him all the way in. arthur does pick up on lucy preferring femnine endearmeants, picks up on her wanting to make herself beautiful for him, picks up on lucy wanting to be treated gently and considered delicate and lovely. has whispered in lucy's ear more than once that he wants her to be his wife. i think young lucius always looked very androgynous, tall and beautiful and long flowy hair. it is interesting to me that lucy always kept her hair long... the one true thing about herself she kept with her ..
lucy lives in this fairytale type love story with arthur that she never fully lets him in on. where she's the imprisoned princess with no other choice and arthur as her secret lover, the only one who can save her (but wont, can't). she's the princess, he's the knight. she even loves being lucy's mistress because of this, because of the feminine implications of being a married mans dirty secret... he's the closest she'll ever get to live out her deepest desires. he's the only one, or atleast the one who got closest, who ever got to see the woman she could've been
pt 2. bellucius
bill weasley is born in 1970, just when the first war starts. things have been heavy for a long time before this, dividing lucys attention from arthur / to become man of the house / to submit to voldy. thing is, like i said above, lucy is not immune to sacred 28 propaganda, and she's not even immune to voldy propaganda. especially not after losing arthur, and therefor losing her only connection to her own womanhood which she has entirely projected onto her affair with him <- not a healthy thing obviously to make your identity dependant on another person, but this is not a happy and/or healthy story. and lucy only ever felt like a woman with arthur, it was her escape, and now that's gone and there's a war coming. lucy is canonically a coward, so why wouldn't she be a coward here, too? she loses the only thing she ever wanted, and didn't let herself fully have, so what else is there but to committ wholeheartedly to the other side? she's got nothing to lose, only to gain
this is where the messy affair with bella starts !! bella who takes the mark and loses rita in the process. they end up seeking not-quite comfort in each other, and sort of become exactly what the other needs but in the most unhealthy fucked up way possible. <- bella is always a lesbian to me, no matter the au or relationship she's in. she'll marry a man, sleep with a man, etc, but she can't develop feelings for a man. just entirely a dyke at heart, to me..... which is why lucy latches onto her, because bella will treat her like a woman (yes, bella sees lucy as a woman, but bella also lowkey hates pureblood women because she thinks they’re weak and submissive <- thing she’s refusing to be.) however, that's not necessarily in a good or healthy way. but atleast it allows lucy the smallest, tiniest bit of freedom. just the smallest window of escapism, of being treated like a woman again, even if it's not in the sweet or gentle way arthur treated her
lucy is a well respected deather eater, but at night she's locked away in bellas chambers dressed up in lacey underwear, most likely narcissas, while bella tends to her. lucy being the heir, bella wanting to be heir, and role reversal of it all. behind closed door bella is her man, lucy is her girl. infront of others lucy is a well respected man and bella is rabastans wife. in public, lucy is percieved as a powerful man and bella is just a woman. behind closed doors lucy is bella's babygirl........
bella has always wanted what she can't have. has always wanted to be the man of the house. has always wanted to be heir. she's the oldest sister, older than sirius, and she's still not heir. she has always wanted. but she'll always be a girl. she's doomed to be a girl, a woman, a wife. <- during the first war atleast where she's less powerful.
they're both using each other just to get a taste of something they'll never have. lucy's desire for womanhood, bellas desire to equal to the men she serves. there are lots of ulterior motives in this affair. it's always about favors and getting something. it's about humiliating the other and holding it above their heads. behind closed doors she's lucius' MAN. she gets to taste what it's like to have a wife, what it would feel like to be her father or sirius (had he not been disowned) or orion. she is a powerful woman, but she'll never be a man... but in this affair and behind closed doors she's the most powerful man alive.
there aren't really any feelings involved, mostly doing each other favors and using each other to get close to something they'll never have. but every once in a while there are tender, or atleast sincere, moments between them. one moment that exists in my mind is that bella tells lucy: 'i would've married you if i was a man' <- meaning also that she knows, without lucy outright telling her, about lucy's desire for womanhood
and with this she's not saying that she's in love with lucy, in fact there are not romantic implications behind it at all. it's about pureblood culture and arranged marriages, about making pacts and loyalty. she's saying that she'd take lucy as a wife. she's saying that she'd be a decent husband to her and that she'd protect him. bella would've been a man, which might or might not have allowed her to pick her own wife. and she's saying she would've picked lucy. she's also saying that she sees her. sees lucy as the woman she'll never be and the partnership they’ll never have :/ <- arranged pureblood marriages makes me insane . i think about it All The Time
part 3: conclusion ??? is there one ??? everyones miserable :/
RRRRAAAAAAAA anyway bella goes to azkaban and they don't pick up where they left off when she gets out because bella is almost someone else now. there's only a faint whisper of who she used to be
there's also a lurthur almost relapse. between the first war and the second war. where they end up in arthur's office and it's late at night. and arthur should really ask lucy to leave. he's been so good, for years he's been so good. he hasn't relapsed once. but now arthur has somehow backed lucy into the wall, a hand around her neck, the other in her hair. lucy tells arthur 'i'd leave it all to be yours' and that's what snaps arthur out of it. because they're so fundamentally different about their families. because lucy never connected with draco like arthur connected with bill. and arthus hears 'i'd abandon my child' but lucy is saying 'i should've picked you from the start' and now it's too late because arthur had bill and can never un-have him. can never change back to who he was before. and lucy can never win arthur back, because arthur will never respect someone who could betray their children .................. OH THEY MAKE ME SICK
jen i need to know whats happening with narcissa while lucius is having her affairs. does narcissa know? does she realise that lucius envies her? does she envy lucius? does she envy people who get lucius's attention? is she just so focused on draco she doesn't notice her husband? how does she feel about lucy's struggles with being a father? is she happy that draco will be closer to her, will love her more? is she aware of bellucius? is she aware of lucius's complicated relationship with womanhood, has she noticed that he keeps borrowing her lingerie? does she take all of that as a permission to have her own affairs? is she trying to rekindle her relationship with alice? does she have any other relationships, perhaps with other miserable pureblood wives? does she talk to bella about all of this? does she talk to anyone? is she just all alone in the malfoy manor with a newborn child? is she waiting for lucius to come back home? is she filled with relief every time he leaves for work? is she imagining what would've happen if she left like andromeda? does she visit her parents and her childhood home a lot? what's going on with her?
anon..will you take my hand in marriage.. 💍🤍
lets get into some of mine and karas thoughts on narcissa in the lurthur to bellucius timeline <3 !!!
(she/her pronouns for lucy even if she’s in the closet and narcissa only knows her as her husband)
narcissa does and doesn’t know. she suspects her husband is having affairs since most pureblood husbands do. i don’t even necessarily think she would feel all that betrayed if she did know for certain that she was having an affair. she would be hurt that it was with bellatrix, that either of them would do that to her. she stayed for bellatrix, chose her, and bella ends up having an affair with her ’husband’. she’d be hurt by bella and humiliated by lucy
narcissa and lucy did not marry for love necessarily since me and kara are agreed that it was more or less an arranged marriage. we do think that lucy had some say in the choice whereas narcissa wouldn’t.. but they have a pretty alright marriage at first. lucy picks narcissa because she genuinely likes her. because they’re similar, she’s the woman lucy always wanted to be, and lucy respects her. they get along well, have similar interests, both want to blend in rather than stand out, etc. she respects her and is willing, desperate, to make it work
narcissa isn’t envious of lucy because narcissa never dreamt of being in the same position as a man (which she sees her as) like bellatrix dreams of. however, lucy grows to resent narcissa over the years. especially after arthur’s family grows long before lucy and narcissa ever have draco. arthur is a happy family man with lucy’s polar opposite and lucy is the man of the house with a wife she wishes she could be. at this point, before draco, narcissa is still pretty content in their marriage because she absolutely 100% does not want to have children. they barely even sleep together, me and kara also think maybe they’ve never slept together before they try for a child, and she’s more or less grateful that lucy is having affairs with other women instead (<- with the lack if information she has)
becoming a mother is narcissa’s worst nightmare. she was horrified the day she found out she was pregnant because she ruins everything she touches. her family is cursed. she lost one sister who was disowned and she’s losing the other to voldemort and she’s the only one left to fulfill her duty as a black daughter and wife and it’s killing her. she ruins everything she touches and now she’s pregnant and will give birth to the rot inside of her and she does not think she’s capable of being a good mother. does not think she could committ to it even if she tried
she has draco, and she loves the boy from the first time she holds him. miserable pregnancy, agony and self hatred and regret and then she meets her son and she loves him. maternal instincts that she never thought she had, that weren’t shown to her when she grew up, kick in immediately. she made that kid, he came from her, and he becomes her purpose. she’s been a coward all her life, but she would die for draco. <- she’s still not winning any best mom awards, and she does fail to protect her son for a long time, but she loves her boy and in the end, her first act of bravery, she betrays voldemort and chooses her son.
however, it’s when they have draco that their marriage completely falls apart. lucius hates her for her maternal instincts, hates that she herself can’t be a mother, and hates that she’s not fit to be a father. she had pressed the issue to finally produce an heir because she thought she might finally get over arthur. because she might fall in love with being a ’father’ like arthur had, and she just doesn’t. she cant be a mother, and she can’t be a father. she looks at draco and feels close to nothing. she just doesn’t connect with her son and it breaks her heart and makes her cold
i think narcissa does get frustrated with lucy for being a bad father, but i also don’t think she thinks it’s that out of the ordinary. lucy is a ’man’ and has responsibilites as a provider. narcissa is an old fashioned and close-minded pureblood wife. she knows her duties, traditional as they may be. and yes i do think she finds some sort of satisfaction that draco loves her more. she absolutely spoils him, gives him whatever he wants, is very hands-on. i even think she thinks of draco as her son rather then theirs
she is not aware of lucy’s complicated relationship with wonanhood, but she is aware that she’s.. different? that there’s something but she just can’t put her finger on what it is? i mean, lucy barely fully comprehends her complicated relationship with womanhood. they got married in the 70s and grew up in super traditional homes with decided gender roles. even if narcissa found lucy trying on her lipstick i don’t think she would jump to the conclusion that she’s a trans woman. i also dont think she would suspect her of being a gay man. to her she’s simply her husband, and their marriage wasn’t ever based on love or communication. i think she has a very ’whatever goes on in lucius mind is not my business’ approach to whatever lucy may or may not struggle with
she also does not notice her lingerie going missing, or if she does she just shrugs it off
she also does not rekindle her past relationship with alice (or with lily, depending on who i prefer her with that day). alice is part of narcissas ’i ruin everything i touch’ mindset and she could never look back once she chooses bellatrix once and for all. i also don’t think she takes it as permission to have her own affairs, atleast not during the beginning of their marriage, because it’s just sort of expected that husbands have affairs. should even be allowed them. she’s meant to be a good obediant wife and that’s really what she is for a very long time. i do see her having affairs during the second war however! one of them is a rather uncomfortable non-explicit but deeply intimate relationship with pansy when there’s marriage talk between draco and pansy. that relationship is more about touch starvation and girlhood and mother/daughter for pansy and missing her sisters for narcissa. it gets complicated and messy and twisted real fast
she does not talk to bellatrix about this either, and yeah she really mostly does sit around in malfoy manor with draco. but i also think that’s when she’s the most content. very much like in hotd when rhaenys said ’you desire not to be free, but to make a window in the wall of your prison’ to alicent. it’s all she knows. it’s the only freedom she has ever been aware of. her time is hers, her son is hers and being alone becomes a synonym for freedom. if anything i think she dreads for lucy to come home. she resents her, and lucy resents her right back. lucy could never forgive narcissa for being the wife and mother she so desperately wanted to be, and narcissa could never forgive lucy’s anger towards her for it even if she doesn’t know where it stems from
i think she always wonders what would’ve happened if she had left with andy. atleast up until she has draco and he becomes her purpose. she never would’ve had him if she left and he’s the single best thing that’s ever happened to her. she’s hers. someone who’ll always love her back. she wouldn’t trade him for anything. she’ll be miserable for the rest of her days if it means being with draco. she’s not a perfect mother, maybe she’s not even a very good one for a lot of years, but she loves him and she tries which is more than her mother ever did for her. or druellas mother before her. it takes a little while, but narcissa breaks the family curse and the cycle of abuse in the end. lies voldy straight to his face to save her son
