back in high school i was on a firing team and we used to get yelled at about how if you have your entire finger on the trigger you’re more likely to pull said trigger, whether accidentally or not. a lot of handguns and medium sized rifles have very sensitive triggers, so it literally only takes the tip of your finger to pull it.

there’s also the chance that using your entire finger actually pulls the gun in the direction of the firing hand. so, if your right index finger is your trigger finger and you use all of it to fire, you actually pull the gun to your right side, which makes you hit off target. up until the moment the bullet leaves the chamber, you’re still a factor that determines where it lands, so even if you change the angle or whatever by a little bit, you can get different results.

i’ve seen some ppl with bigger fingers get their fucking fingers stuck in the goddamn trigger area before, so i guess that’s also a reason to only use the tip, but i don’t think this actually happens that often.
