"A secret taken to far"

It was going too far. You were so desperate to keep the secret of your crush from your crush, the rest of the team and the rest of the world, so you pushed your friendship with Leila away. But you pushed it too far, it was hurting too much. Watching Leila dancing with someone else, the joy on her face, she didn't look at you with anything more than blankness, the confusion turned to glares sometimes. You didn't even know you were crying until Ingrid's hand was on your forearm, asking if you were okay and offering you a napkin from the table for a tissue.

The sound of silence

She never thought you would leave. But the look on your face was haunting her. Time went slowly, but you showed no signs of coming back, only texting that you were safe, but you weren't ready to talk about what had happened. Alexia hadn't meant to yell, but she had scared you, reminding you of a past you left behind when you came to Barcelona. She had no idea where you had left to, but she knew it would take more than an apology to fix things. You hated yelling, and being yelled at, the loud angry tone sending you spiralling into panic. You'd asked the team not to yell at you off the pitch, even if they were angry. But she'd messed up in a moment of stress, and now you were gone, leaving the sound of silence behind as you shut the door.

Scars

You hid them well. Under clothes, under tattoos in some cases. For some of your scars were accidental. Some were from the ACL surgery you'd had a few years ago, you were just unlucky back then. Some weren't accidental.

It felt like a bucket of ice cold water had been dumped over your head, goosebumps running up your skin as her fingers began to trace each scar on your body, her eyebrows knitted together as she wondered the story behind each one.

Eye of the beholder

Being an artist in this economy, in this society is a constant struggle. Art is subjective, whether someone likes or dislikes it depends on the individual, unless conformity occurs. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all. So, during a stint of artsts block, you share one of your art pieces from the euros on social media, but you never expected the football player you did the portrait of to see it, until a repost from Leah brings you attention to your art, and out of your artists block.

Ye you should definitely write it

the question is though, (because i love details) are we thinking, early on relationship, friends to lovers, or something else, it's a bit of an intimate moment i think, not in the middle of the locker room with everyone else around but that's as far as i got so far, but it's a fic with a lot of opportunity/prospects, if that makes any sense

(i'll put it on my list along with 'the sound of silence' but my list is 20 fic ideas, and i have 9 started, 7 of those 9 are stuck, so this will be fun sksksk)

At the breaking point

Whoever said things couldn't get any worse had clearly not heard about Murphy's law. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Everything had gone wrong, and you were at your breaking point.

It was the final game of the season, and it had all gone to shit quickly, clearly luck was a myth. Even after the results of the Derby the week before, the final game of the season had ended in a draw.

You wanted a win, everyone on your team did. One final win for those who weren't renewing their contracts with United, and were heading away in the upcoming transfer window.

Running in autopilot from leaving the stadium, you barely remembering packing your bag, or the taxi to the airport. Barely aware as you went through security, and the gate, eventually sitting on a plane with one destination in mind. Barcelona. You needed a hug from one specific person, but she was over 800 miles away.

One step away, for the fic titel game

One step away. Barcelona were one step away from winning the UWCL. The last step, the UWCL final against Lyon.

You broke your life down into steps to make it more manageable, each day was a step forwards, for your optimistic side at least. It didn't stop your knee bouncing up and down, the anticipation of the final hitting you as you buried your face in your hands, taking a deep breath. You couldn't focus on anything after the game, because that was the step after.

A foot nudged yours gently, making you look up to meet the inquistive look on Mapi's face. "I'm okay... just thinking about the game, it's the next step, y'know."

Maybe you should have been looking at the bigger picture, instead of breaking it into pieces... maybe if you had, your ankle wouldn't had broken too.
