The exception to the rule is these macarons; they are really worth their weight in gold! These are ideal for special occasions and will bring a magical touch to your dessert table because they contain a hint of edible glitter.
Ingredients: 3 egg whites. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar. 1 cup almond flour. 1/4 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. 1/4 tsp gold edible glitter.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 300F 150C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Sift the powdered sugar and almond flour into the egg white mixture. Add salt and fold until the batter is smooth and glossy. Add vanilla extract and fold it in. Transfer the batter into a piping bag with a round tip. Pipe small rounds of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet. Tap the baking sheet on the counter to remove air bubbles and let the macarons sit for 20-30 minutes until a skin forms on the surface. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until the macarons have risen and have firm tops. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, gently remove the macarons from the parchment paper. Sprinkle edible gold glitter on the flat side of one macaron shell, then sandwich it with another shell. Repeat with the remaining macarons. Your Golden Glitter Macarons are ready to shine!
