warm take but my biggest pet peeve about some (SOME. a portion. a percentage that doesn't represent everyone) ride the cyclone artists is that when they draw trishna they completely ignore her skintone and make her skin explicitly lighter to the point she looks tan, white or even gray.

we talk about constance being considered a POC as a generalized fandom concept, even if she's not stated as a POC on the script. it's a conversation that has been had for years now, and i'm really glad of all of the progress we've made.

yet, as a fandom, we forget that trishna is not only one of the few characters that are not fully canadian (and that have suffered xenophobia by either the authors or the fandom,,, the others are misha, talya, asløg and march 2009 corey) but that she's the only script-canon POC (indian, south asian rep), and that her representation as one IS important.

trishna is heavily connected to her cultural background, even had a song related to part of her country's culture in the workshops, and removing such representation is simply so disrespectful. people do not only ignore that character background of hers almost completely (considering historical factors, traditions, etc,,, as her character is as mentioned before connected to her culture as an indian person), but whitewash her grossly,, and so far, i haven't seen anyone calling it out, so guess im the first one to do so.

making her skintone look whiter or grayish for "color palettes" or "aesthetic reasons" as tons of artists say is not justified, that's blatant racism and the only one to blame is you. DRAWING A POC CHARACTER IS NOT GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!

this isn't an issue i've seen a lot on tumblr thankfully, but mostly on tiktok and pinterest. still, i hope making this post brings awareness about what's been happening over this time with trishna's character in fanart.

not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but i absolutely LOVE when people portray ride the cyclone's cut characters (trishna, astrid, hank and corey) as a separate friend group from the choir. of course they can be a big friend group too but specifically them going on little adventures together
