Will's eyes welling up when Mike talks about how he's feeling as if he has lost him and how he wants to be friends again, best friends actually. god i can't emphasize how much that means to me. here you have a boy who's dealing with feelings for his best friend, romantic feelings altogether actually, and with growing up and leaving behind his hometown for a place that constantly brings him and his sister down, and with suddenly being neglected like this and after all that he's been through. to hear someone say "this place doesn't feel the same without you" to realise that your best friend really values you and doesn't want to lose you. all of that but you're hearing it from the person you like romantically too, the one you've been making paintings about and waiting for letters from. to hear that they want to be with you and spend time with you. god the pining, the yearning, the simple want to never let them go. the want to comfort them and to open up to them while you're dealing with life threatening situations but it's not all bad because you're with them. you can see it in his face he's so glad to have his friend back. he's just so relieved and its such a simple emotion but it gets me and it's just such a tender(pun not intended?) moment between them. even for friends it's an absolute fucking blow to my heart. safe to say this was my most favourite scene this season. byler is fucking real, man. will byers you absolutely precious human being, i adore you with all my heart.
