so Brandon Yates has now done character themes for all of Mark Zhang’s Team SLVR (including a whole team theme), and they’re pretty great and i haven’t really seen many posts with them so here

SLVR theories ?

I just want to talk about the things I noticed in the trailers and what I can tell about them :3

Simin :

He seems to have some kind connection with the moon? I mean in the begining of his trailer we see him looking up at the moon and triying to "grab" it.

And the song that is used in the trailer is "black paper moon" (soul eater openiiing !).

Also the moon is still in one piece ? Maybe it was just a mistake or it's another timeline ?? Or maybe it's just that in every trailer the moon is in a "full moon" phase. (And it's just too bright to see the different pieces of the moon)

Apparently he has no semblance. At some point (if I'm not crazy) I think Mark said he had the semblance of making things harder to break when he touches them, but he changed it and now Simin has no semblance.

He seems to get along with Ragora !

Lycan:

This boy is feral !

I don't really know if he is a faunus but he does fight like a beast. He doesn't really have any animal feature, maybe his sharp teeth, but it could just be how his teeth look like.

His semblance is described like a mix of Blake's and Sun's semblance.

The song that is used in his trailer is "Yoru wa nemereru kai ?" ("Can you sleep at night ?" also the song in Ajin's first opening)

Going back on the faunus theory, "Ajin" does mean "Demi-human" soooo...

Also his outfit looks a biiiit like what a White fang would wear, just a bit.

I wonder if he gets along with Ragora, he seemed to be so mad at her familiar xD.

Vella:

So! She was chased in her trailer, by two robots. Maybe because of a mission or maybe it was something that happened before she was part of team SLVR.

ALSO, the place where they fight is really special, it looks like a sea was frozen. It's also the same blue as her hair and eyes. Maybe she's connected to this place?

The song used in her trailer is "Aoki tsuki michite" (also used in Black butler's ending in season 3) which is a pretty melancolic song.

She seemed happy in Regalia's trailer, but maybe she's sad character ?

She was being such a dork making a peace sign xD (and only Ragora had the kindness of at least waving back x)).

Ragora:

Sadly, there isn't much we can tell from Ragora in her trailer, the setting isn't really hers, since all members of the team are seen.

She's the first to have an original song ! It's called "Drawing down the moon" (again with the moon).

She is a witch ! Also she has an attack that resembles Adam's (in a way).

I wonder if her and her familiar have some kind of emotional connection. Like it seems to have some kind of free will? It did lick Simin's face. Maybe it means she likes him ? Or maybe it's just her familiar.

RWBY LYCAN’S ALLUSION

As requested, I will be continuing my Team SLVR allusion analysis series. Now it is time for the next fighter, Lycan Arcadia, to step up. Here we go.

Lycan is based on Lycaon, the King of Arcadia in Greek Mythology. Lyacon was known as a barbarous & immoral ruler. To test Zeus’s divinity, Lycaon cooked his own son and presented him as a meal to Zeus to see if the god would eat a human. Zeus punished Lycaon for this horrific deed by turning him into a wolf, while the son was restored back to life.

Now, obviously there is some clear name inspiration. Lycan is the name of the king, Arcadia is the kingdom he ruler over. Also, the story of King Lycaon inspired the term “Lycanthrope”, or mythological werewolf creatures (shortened as lycans). Lycan also means wolf in Greek.

Lycan takes several cues from wolves. Lycan himself is a werewolf. His Faunus trait is sharp fangs. He also dresses in fur accents and sharp armor, and he even has claws on his shoes. This design is inspired by wolf fur and Beowolf scales. His weapon, Razorbolt, is clearly inspired by wolf claws.

Lycan fights multiple Beowolves in his trailer, another nod to his wolf theme. But midway through, his opponent becomes a possessed suit of armor that can shoot out fire. Why is this? Because it’s a reference to the story of Lyacon. The king cooked his son into a meal, so now the knight is trying to cook him in return.

Lycan’s theme song is called “King of Anything”, which combined with his brash & extreme personality, reflects King Lyacon’s nature. The knight he fights also nudges at Lyacon’s status as a king, and its cross motif could be a nod to Zeus.

As usual RWBY fashion, Lycan has a moon shot. Considering all of Team SLVR have a connection to the moon, this applies to Lycan, as werewolves are awoken by the full moon.

And well that’s pretty much it. Lycan seems to be the brute of the group, and based on his allusion, he fits right in.

Lycan Arcadia – Sending Clone

Going to cover an original, fan-made character who wasn’t designed by me, with some information taken from this wiki.

His Semblance bears the greatest resemblance to Sun Wukong’s Via Sun. Both of them create transparent yellow clones to attack for them. These clones likewise seem to possess mass as well as strength and speed comparable to Lycan’s own.

There are key differences, though. Lycan seems capable of creating only one clone at a time, is never seen to control it at Sun’s ranges, none of his clones last as long as Sun’s, and they do not seem capable of exploding.

On the balance, Lycan seems to be able to create his clones far more easily, and displays no apparent distraction when he controls one and fights at the same time. Sometimes he simply creates an additional hand, complete with a copy of his claws, to effectively strike twice with the same attack, or even to immediately execute a new attack in spite of putting himself out of balance with the previous attack.

He further seems capable of creating a clone directly behind an enemy he is engaging face-to-face; given that he only does this once, I imagine that it’s difficult or expensive.

Compared to Via Sun, this is a Semblance with a much greater emphasis on close-range engagement, fake-outs and feints, and relentless assault.
