Yeah, that happens in Japanese too. Mama is mother but maamaa is so-so. Ame can be either candy or rain depending on how you say it. ~L

Oh definitely easier in that aspect. And yeah, they're important. Even then tho, you have to just...know what someone really means sometimes. Because the Japanese don't fucking say what they mean half the time. To avoid offense and confrontation. That is frustrating. ~L
