ANIMAL: a multimedia poetry reading by Jade Benoit & Lynn Casper

Here is a video of my portion of the MFA Absurdist Reading on April 1, 2011.  The video pieces were done by Lynn Casper and all the poems are by me (Jade Benoit), most of which were written over the last semester.  During the actual reading, Lynn’s pieces were shown on a screen for the audience, but she’s edited them into the video of the reading since it’s easier to see them this way.  It may seem long, but the performance was arched to sort of have a “beginning” and an “end”.  Feel free to pass this along/solicit me for anything poetry-related: (Jade): [email protected]

end of march update

I haven't been very good at keeping this blog updated, mostly because I have so many other things that I update and usually do bits & pieces on my scantron.tumblr.com page, @lynncasper twitter, or the respective social media accounts for their associated projects. BUT I guess I do need to be better about keeping things all in one place, which is something I was trying to figure out with my flavors.me + behance + tumblr but yadda yadda yadda, I'll talk more about this at the end of the post. So... 

UNFORTUNATE UMBRELLAS 

The opening reception was a great success! Despite TONS of caffeine (shouts to Port City Java & Willy Wonka candy!), TONS of stress/indecisiveness/anxiety/etc, I got the show up and I am pretty satisfied with how it came out. There are photos from the opening reception on Facebook, but I will be compiling them all in one place at unfortunateumbrellas.tumblr.com. I also got the first edition of Unfortunate Umbrellas published! It features photos of umbrellas that were submitted by a bunch of people! HOMOGROUND

I started doing an audio podcast in January called HOMOGROUND which features music by queer (& allied) bands. Episodes go live every Thursday on Out Impact Radio and then live on the Homoground website for streaming/download. The response I've received so far as been amazing! and honestly, the amount of submissions I'm receiving is a bit overwhelming so I am working on putting processes in place to make things work smoothly. 

I've produced and aired 11 episodes to date. Last week, we exceeded our allotted bandwidth on podomatic for the month, which is great because it means people are actually listening, but it also means I need to figure out how to handle all of this traffic. 

PERSONAL BRAND

I revisit this every now & then so that I can be sure that I'm accurately capturing all of the projects & work that I'm doing. I have set up a profile on about.me to capture this for now. My domain iamlynncasper.com points there as well.
