The Valley of Rocks

The valley of rocks, located near Lynton & Lynmouth. A 2 hour drive from our location. Our first step: to find the most scenic route to Lynton, for us that was to drive through Donkery & Horner wood National Nature Reserve. (If i were you I would take the scenic route.) Our second step: jump into Felix, fuel up and go. (Felix is our volkswagen T4 camper).
The drive felt a lot longer than it actually was, but that's because you are more concentrated on your beautiful surroundings. To fast flowing streams in the bottom of a valley, all the way to open hilltops where you can see for miles; (on a clear day) and everything in between. The small, narrow, winding roads makes the journey to the Valley of Rocks one of my top trips. (Donkery & Horner wood National Nature Reserve is on our list to explore more of).
Finally we got to The valley of Rocks, a beautiful rocky, cliff edge, right next to stunning blue water and in the distance you can see the coast of wales. There is a car park in walking distance of the Rocks, it is a pay and display car park (it is great value for money though). We were off, walking around, down and even up, exploring all of the Valley of Rocks we could. The best place we found was half way up one of the Rocks edges (the one shown in pictures 1&2) sitting there quietly, listening. The peacefulness that you feel, listening to the wind and the sea and birds tweeting. The one thing i would suggest is that if you do not really like people (when exploring) this place would be best visited in the winter.
