Mixed Vegetables

just a song stuck in my head lately. had a seizure in my sleep this morning and been feeling pretty out of it so decided to make some art. haven't done a lyricspost in a minute, felt like this tragic & pretty album would work. other text is from river's edge by kyoko okazaki.

the lyrics to this song feel really personal but the emotions they're covering are extremely relatable, i took the liberty of doing some whiteout poetry with them in this one to illustrate how i listen to them. also including some extras just cuz the process of making this had some good little photo combos in it. i read river's edge last year and took some photos of the text that captivated me, the afterword really stuck with me and i felt like "no hope for anything" by drauve(where this track is from) fits well as a companion piece to it. would highly recommend both, very influential pieces of art to me.

as for my health im doing okay-ish, just very tired and frazzled and shakey from waking up with a seizure. been feeling severe isolation, desolation, depression and suicidal ideation and DID shit. concurrently also goin thru some big life changes, alot of social loss and substance withdrawals to boot. idk this album has been helping just not feel too lonely in feeling like a hopeless beautiful tragedy. also this is me trying to try and represent a quiet complete and total isolated breakdown when you have no one you can turn to.

Mountain Time

this one is a song I find really cathartic and heartfelt. it resonates with trauma and plurality and heartbreak and love in a lot of ways that I could latch it to points in my life. as I am now this piece is the best I could do it justice.

I packed this one full of symbols and images of my life and my past and my love... and tying it all together with the song's lyrics repeated I think is me showing how consistently I've fallen back to it in the last year+ for all sorts of reasons. here it is without tho.

under the cut you can see a lot of our formulating and planning, because since we made "The Margins Between Digits On An Alarm Clock" we realized that drawing out concepts is actually really helping our skill level increase

on the left is the first sketch I made before I even started the collage, on the right is the sketch i had made after finishing the sun element and the general shape of the piece + the third wedge of the mountain.

lastly, while I could post a handful of the small elements I made for individual wedges or the piece with just the black and white frame, I'm most proud of this collage I made using about 8 images of the lyric sheet that came from the CD. for those familiar with my previous "lyricsposts" I used to always use raw vector text, but I've found it makes me adjust my process down weird directions and takes away certain charm points that a photograph I edited and composited and threshold-ed doesn't, so going forward I'll be using photos of text for things, which you can already see in DYED's text. anyways thanks for reading my ramble ♥️. check out the album one of my faves from last year.

im posting this on my birthday, im 23 now.

believe it or not time passes. i bought the album that inspired this piece at the tail end of my year-to-year worst month. id heard it was incredible and specifically saved my first full listen for CD and it was worth it.

the whole album is so deeply wonderful and sonically creative it's crazy to think it's only a year older than me or so when it sounds so current.

I grabbed the CD from 'Longinus Recordings' and the translated lyric pamphlet is what I used for the lyrics in the art..

just because I don't have to worry about the tumblr version cutting off or anything. idk this song has always hit a part of my heart and reading the lyrics it feels so fitting that the physical release came around in such a difficult and emotional time for me. idk I love making my artwork and I'm glad I'm still happy.. I want to still be happy.

been a while since I made a lyricspost, all summer I've had this idea in my head to make a piece split down the middle using two songs. MOWUKIS's "Castles Left" & Chris Garneau's "Castle-Time" just ended up being what I went with because of their place on debut album's and simmilar names. not sure if this fit the vibe of either but I feel like it fits the vibe of some mix between.
