“Is this how little you think of me?”
HAVING to choke back how absolutely offended she was by the accusation, she couldn’t hide the displeasure on her face and the hurt in her eyes. The amount of fondness she had for the boy made her crazy, and to be constantly held to the way she had failed him in the past in such a false accusation had her feeling helpless. She could deny it all she wanted, but her past actions had seemed to draw a stake between them and she had to understand his right to be upset with her. Still, she wasn’t going to let him accuse her of not having him in her mind, when in reality, he was probably one of the few people whose comfort she held above her intense curiosity. More importantly, he was in her heart.
Overwhelmed with distaste, she had to chew at her cheek to fight emotional tears. “Look, I get you’re upset at me and all, and you have all the right to be, but don’t go accusing me of bullshit like that. If you actually think that, then you’re fucking kidding your self.” She laughed humorlessly and felt the heat of her frustration rising to her cheeks, her head shaking as she stomped away from him, hugging herself and rubbing her arms in attempts to comfort herself.
