Promises You'll Only Make is chugging right along with another update! 🚂💨 (Preview below cut / link in my pinned post):

Lyste had brought Kallus a cup of caf thirty-three times.

Kallus reciprocated by correcting small errors on Lyste’s reports.

Lyste, Kallus suspected, had memorized Kallus’s patrol schedule.

Kallus memorized Lyste’s schedule.

Lyste commed Kallus late at night with little, innocuous messages like:

<Did you receive the latest Imperial Directive?>

<Yes.>

And:

<Did you hear about those pirates in Garel?>

<No.>

<What happened?>

<They’ve been making rather a nuisance of themselves, by all accounts.>

<I see.>

(“Pirates do that sort of thing,” he didn’t say.)

<How is the Senator coping?>

<She’s been waiting to hear back from the Navy>

<I told her to go to ISB for help instead.>

<Let me know if she encounters difficulties.>

And:

<Have you found your code-cylinder starts to stick after a year or so? I’ve never gone this long without losing it before. Is that something I should try to fix or get replaced?>

<Replaced.>

And:

<I’m due for leave soon, and I’m wondering where to go.>

<Where did you go last time?>

<I took a crashed escape pod to an ice moon orbiting Geonosis.>

<…>

<Coruscant. I usually just go to Coruscant.>

<I do miss Coruscant.>

<So do I.>

WIP Wednesday: Thrall

Select Promises commenters got my 🐳🧠 obsessed with writing some Kallus/Thrawn content so... here we are. This is what we’ve got in the works (and probably going to be posted soon). Each fic is with varying levels of Thrawn-darkness and getting plonked into its own Ao3 series: Thrall.

1. “I’m a Legend—I’m not a Fable” Well-done darkness. The only reason I managed to make a one-shot for once is because I exorcised bits of this fic and moved to another one (i.e. #2). Going up today, me thinks.

2. "Listless" featuring Kallus/Lyste and Kallus/Thrawn and Kallus/Lyste/Thrawn during the events of "Through Imperial Eyes"/Promises chapters 37-38 - Medium darkness! It’s one story in three parts? I am not sure if I should do three chapters or three separate fics yet. Part one is written and lying in wait.

3. "Cover Me in Pearls" The first fic in a new Promises sub-series: MYTHIC. Featuring Thrayjallus threesomes and polyamory. Medium-rare-to-rare darkness! Not much darkness. Not quite carpaccio, but close. Just a lot of self-indulgent smut, some angst, and domestic fluff. My peak levels of “I wrote this for me but you can read it too” went into this fic. I got really sad and wrote like... a lot of this while drinking chocolate milk until I felt better. 😂

Kallus found himself staring at the large mirror propped against the bedroom wall, as if startled to see his own face there, looking how it did: smooth... like before he broke.

“Did you trust Thrawn before you fucked him?” he watched his reflection ask.

“Back on that, are we?” Dayja asked wryly from the bureau while he unpacked.

“Maybe.”

“No,” Dayja said. “I didn’t trust him. We were just a couple of hot, horny geniuses: what else were we supposed to do? Not fuck? Have you seen us?”

Kallus saw Dayja’s reflection before he felt his hands around his waist, saw him open his mouth before he felt his breath tickle his neck as his friend asked, “Does it bother you? Thinking about me with Thrawn?”

Thinking about Eli with Thrawn had bothered him.

But Dayja…?

Kallus turned his eyes away from the mirror, looking out the viewport instead.

And then, because Dayja always seemed to be able to see right through Kallus, he asked, “Does it bother you that it doesn’t bother you?”

Kallus swallowed past the dryness overtaking his throat. He closed his eyes as lips dragged, feather light, along the length of his neck. Dayja pressed a splayed hand against Kallus’s stomach, holding him tight against his back as he asked, “Are you wondering what it would be like? Watching Thrawn fuck me?”

Kallus felt a sharp tug of arousal deep inside him and let out a small groan before he could clench his teeth shut.

He was.
