@lyzaz asked if I have a Murdock jacket. Why yes. Yes I do! The jacket itself was a close to Murdock’s as I could get/afford and then the incredible and amazing AJ Howard (I don’t know if she’s on Tumblr, or if she’s even still painting them) did the painting for me. AJ is the ONLY person who can nail it as close to the original that even the original prop guys from the show saw her jackets and went, “Are you sure that’s not one of our old ones???” She even took one when she met Dwight and he told her he’d seen so many people try to replicate his jacket but hers blew them all out of the water.
Love love LOVE my jacket! And someday, it may even fit me properly again.
// I got a wonderful message from a new follower, asking if I had any Murdock whump fic recs. Oh my dear @lyzaz ... have I got fics for you. To be perfectly honest though, half of what I have on my ff.net “favorite stories” page I haven’t read in probably close to three or four years, but I figure, if they were bookmarked, it was for a good reason. So, what I am actually going to do, is just link to all the A-Team fics I had bookmarked over there, and then to the ones I have bookmarked on AO3 (as well to the two of my own that are posted to AO3). Fair warning though, literally all the fics I have bookmarked are Face/Murdock (er, correction, nearly all. I think there’s one down in the list that isn’t...). Whether they are whump or not, I don’t really know, but if I bookmarked them, then they’re no doubt greatness and need to be shared. So, without further delay...fic recs below the cut. :D
Title: Madness in the Spring
Summary: Vietnam era story. A different view of wartime Murdock, and how he came into the team. Liberties taken with small details of A Team canon. FaceMurdock slash.
(Note: I just reread this one last night. It’s one of those that is technically about Murdock, but is told more from Face’s perspective. But it’s probably one of my absolute favorites!)
___
Title: Crash and Burn
Summary: Murdock teeters on the edge of sanity...he must face his fears and make a difficult decision.
___
Title: Eye of the Beholder
Summary: Murdock has doubts sometimes, wonders what anybody could see in a madman, why anyone would stay with him, why anybody would love him. And in these moments there is always a helping hand to lead him out of the dark, promising that this is for real. F/M
___
Title: Seven Stages
Summary: Face must deal with the hardest mission he and Murdock have ever been on...their last.
(Note: Again, another that is technically about Murdock, but told from Face’s perspective.
WARNING! WARNING!!! MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK/JUDGMENT! ( @my-name-is-not-agent, do NOT read this fic! It will bring too much pain! Just don’t.) I always have to write at least one character death fic for every fandom I’m in...and this one was it. I’d say I’m sorry, but let’s be real, I’m not. Because this story even makes ME cry when I re-read it! And I wrote it!!)
___
Title: Baby It’s Cold Outside
Summary: When Face promised to take Murdock out for his birthday, the end result wasn't quite what he'd been expecting.
___
Title: Broken Wings
This is actually a series. If you’re looking for whump, this is a good place to find it! It is all beautiful and heartwarming!
___
Title: Breathing Lessons
Summary: A missing scene fic from episode 4.18, "The Duke of Whispering Pines." It starts within the episode where B.A. and Murdock are being taken out to the woods to be lynched and shows what happens afterwards.
___
Title: Ain’t That Something...
Summary: Five times someone thought Face and Murdock were in love and the one time the two absolute blind fools finally realized they were.
___
Title: Funny Little Thing
Summary: Five times Murdock tucks Face in to to sleep, and the one time Face tucks in Murdock.
(Note: This one was written by my once-upon-a-time best friend. She’s a fantastic writer and I love this story to bits...but there’s one flaw. She failed to warn in the tags anywhere for major character death. The last chapter (chapter 7), is where she warns for it. I believe, it’s natural old age causes...but I’m not sure. I actually can’t bring myself to read that last chapter. So...ye be warned.
She actually wrote a TON of A-Team/Murdock whump, but she never really posted it anywhere, with the possible exception of her LJ account. There’s a very good possibility you will find lots of whump there.)
___
Title: Billy
...there isn’t actually a real summary to this one. Just take my word for it. It’s adorable and should be read.
___
Title: Heartbeat
Summary: A small snippet that takes places in Vietnam in the camp where they are being held.
___
Title: Shadowgraphs
Summary: Face and Murdock recall the evolution of their feelings for one another from a chance meeting in Vietnam until their time on the run Stateside, and deal with the fallout from their reticence.
Title: Oceans Between (sequel...kinda...to Shadowgraphs. Takes place in the same ‘verse at least)
Summary: A look into Face and Murdock's relationship while in Vietnam and on leave. A companion piece to "Shadowgraphs".
______
Sadly, that is all I have for right now. I know, once upon a time, I had a lot more bookmarked over on FF.net, but I fear their authors may have taken them down, because I didn’t actually have as many as I thought I did. But! I will keep a look out for you, and if I come across one that I feel the need to rec, I’ll let ya know!
For now, enjoy! I highly recommend starting with the Broken Wings series, Shadowgraphs verse, and Madness in the Spring. Those are all SO GREAT!
Wow, everyone answered me so fast about Night of the Templar! Here's another question then: I have a bit of a sadism when it comes to Norman Reedus. What movies would you recommend that have him getting physically hurt or ill in some way?
Haha, Red Canyon. Sick, and a bit disturbing movie, but good! And if you just want twisted, watch Six Ways To Sunday! :)
