“How long do you think I can keep this up?” Being Captain America. Even when the world had hated him, he’d been trying to save it. Now, he and the others were no longer on the run, he could be Cap again. He wasn’t sure he knew how to take a step back.

This case had been.... Intriguing. It was the first time he had to continiously work with a partner. He found himself caring about what Detective Hargrove thought of him and for his safety despite it not being his primary objective.

His new partner was a puzzle that Steve found himself very much wanting to solve. He resented Steve but not for being an android he just seemed to resent everyone. He was both eager to prove himself and intent on acting like he didn't care what his colleagues thought of him. He had yelled at Steve for saving him on the rooftop over continuing to chase the deviant and yet seemed greatful Steve hadn't followed his programming and chosen him over the deviant.

Now he was wondering around his partners house he felt concerned when he peered through the window to see the human passed put on the ground. Without thought he crashed through the window and instantly there was a dog growling at him. "Easy Beast," he said recalling the dogs name from his attempt to get Hargrove to have an actual conversation. "I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to save your owner," the pitbull still growled but went to go by his owners side.

He quickly moved to the others side and analyzed the situation. Ethylic coma most likely. He would have to sober the other up to ensure his continued safety. "Detective it's me, Steve," he said as he gently tapped the others face a few times and received only a grumble in response. Considering his options he then slapped the other much more harshly, ignoring how Beast was growling and barking once more as the dog advanced and instead trying to sit Billy up.

Steve chuckled breathlessly “Damn,” he said in agreement. Because holy shit he’d thought they’d worked well together in high school. Now though? Fuck, high school Steve wished the sex could be this good. Not to mention this regular.

There were two ways Eddie could go about this. He could ask to here the joke because he absolutely loved jokes. Or he could be an ass and make Steve feel awkward, which he also enjoyed. The grin that slowly crept onto Eddie's lips made which way this decision was going very obvious.

"Wow, Harrington." Said Eddie, trying his bed to sound like he was hurt or offended by what Steve had just said. "You're really gonna throw a dad joke at the guy with no dad? What kind of asshole are you?"

Eddie looked up at Steve, brows furrowed in confusion because he couldn't remember a time where Steve had been this serious before. He looked almost angry as he spoke to him. Normally Eddie would have some witty remark or some joke to say. He didn't. He just shook his head. "It has nothing to do with you." Eddie creating this distance between him and everyone else had nothing to do with anyone in particular or anything anyone did. He was in his head about what happened in the Upside Down. There was a lot of guilt weighing him down. Like he could have done more, or like - "I'm not supposed to be here, man." Eddie believed that. He should have died in the Upside Down. He was useless now. His wounds were still healing and he could barely walk by himself, let alone fight Vecna. And for what? His sacrifice did nothing in the end. "Is Max doing any better?"

This was absolutely ridicules. The kind of thing that should only happen in comic books and tv shows. So its only natural that it happens to him, Steve supposed. While chasing and fighting a villain, he had found himself being transported through time and coming out right as gabriel entered the coliseum. Steve had tried to talk to the people, let them know that he’s not a fighter from this time or whatever. But they merely ignored him and shoved him in. That’s how steve found himself with his shield and tight outfit and trapped in a colosseum with the ‘warlord’ gabriel. “Hey, there’s been a misunderstanding. I don’t want to fight you.” Steve tried to reason.  “I don’t want to hurt you.”
